Freewrite Prompt: Smooth As Silk

Arwen looked at her face, then her arms and later her shins. They were hairy. They had always been since she was born. Her parents told her it's okay but everyone else ridiculed her. Her mom and dad were actually having awesome skins, fair and smooth as silk, like baby's skin.

The boys in school set her as their bully target and embarrassed her always. They said she didn't fit what her name is, as Lady Arwen in the Lord of the Rings is a beauty with silky skin. Now, she hated her name too.

Her last "boyfriend" broke up with her calling her Ape. Since then, she vowed that the next guy she dates should not know about this secret past she had. She hates it when she had to go through the evolution theory during science class. She could feel all eyes were on her and she could hear the whispers.

Arwen looked at what she had bought that day, a bottle of Veet. She saw in some advertisements that it could help her to be smooth as silk. Embarrassed to get it from the mart, she somehow did it by herself at the age of 16. With her hoodie on, she paid and go, she did it!

Then staring at the mirror, she was determined to let Veet put an end to her misery, hopefully. She took a deep breath and said, "Here goes!"

She took out the Veet spray and sprayed the cream over her facial razor. She tried doing it carefully. As she saw hair coming off her face and arms, Arwen got excited. "This nightmare is finally going to end," she thought. However, she cut herself here and there, so she came out with cuts and wounds, shocking her parents. She did not go out for days after that.

When Arwen returned to school after that, she realized everyone looked at her differently. She experienced more people coming over to her, even the boys stopped joking about her. After all, she is actually quite good-looking, taking after her mom.

The happiness did not last. The hair grew back a month later and she did the same thing with Veet again. Then she started stocking a whole shelf with Veet. After years of doing this, Arwen got a bit fed up.

She worked part time and with her first wage, she went for a light treatment for permanent hair removal just to ensure she could always have skin smooth as silk.

Arwen was nervous and there was this guy there who tried to help her ease her nerves. They became friends and then more than that. Looks like in the end, the secret she vowed to keep away from the next guy she dates was actually known since day one they knew each other as they were there for the same purpose. Arwen was so glad to get this off her chest and he knew her just as she is. They became the "hairy" couple who date in the hair removal centre, so some days they are hairy, but other days they are smooth as silk.
