Fun in the Class (5-minute Freewrite: Prompt - Chalk)

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

A chalk just flew across and it hit on the teacher's head on the dot. Bullseye! The teacher turned around with his furious eyes, scanning around just to notice none of the students were moving. All were seemingly paying full attention as he wrote the steps of the Mathematics formula.

He turned around back to the blackboard and continued writing with his chalks. In a split of seconds, in a swift mode, he twisted his whole body and threw a chalk towards Stevenson and guess what? The chalk hit precisely on his cheek! Ouch! Then, the class broke into laughter.

Gone were the days where classrooms where full of chalks' marks and powders. As I am writing this freewrite now, I could not help but to reminisce the good old days at school. It was just full of fun. Naughty students loved to draw the wooden tables of others, on the beneath or underside, so that when the owner of the table sat down, there would be chalk's mark all over his pants or pinofore skirts on the lap's section.

During recess time, we would use different colors of chalks to scribble of the cement parchment for fun. Well, those days we had zero dependency on tablets or gadgets. Many would draw 'aeroplane game boxes' and started jumping away. Some would draw circles everywhere on the cement floor for the game 'musical chair'.

We even had art class based on chalks. How fun was that!

I made it a point to introduce blackboard and chalk to my son so I bought for him once. You know, those for small children to learn writing and drawing. It was fun telling him what are chalks. He was definitely impressed by the beauty of it that he could drew and write for days. Even had a role-play of him being a teacher and I was the student.

I am not a teacher so I really wonder do classrooms now still use blackboard and chalk, or all has fully utilised whiteboard and marker? Any teachers out there to shed light on this?

I love pretty chalks and do you know universities in China still use them? because chalks on board has more contrast and more students are able to read them

Yes I really love chalks. Arts with chalks are fantastic too. Oh I didn't know that universities in China are still using them. Great to know this information. It is awesome we can share knowledge in this platform. :)

I'm feeling nostalgic about the days before tablets and gadgets became so widely used in schools, too. Back then, I had a teacher who really disliked getting her hands dirty with chalk, so she uses a yellow plastic chalk holder with flowers on the end whenever writing on the board. It was very cute. She even writes with colored chalk, too. I remember lots of pink and green with the white chalk.

Oh I could imagine the cuteness overloaded whenever she used the flowery chalk as she taught. Maybe that was her way to get her students to focus. Haha

Love it!
I have no idea, but I think they use mainly whiteboards now. We homeschool, so I have not seen the inside of a classroom in years. :D

Oh yes over here, many schools use white board too. Homeschooling is great...you can use your own system right?

Yep! We get to learn whatever we want! Each state has its own laws, but generally speaking, parents are free to teach their children how they choose. ♥

Those were the days 😘

Oh yes... Those dayssss in our memory :)

Those days were awesome even if sometimes we couldnt understand the teachers writing lol. Kids today will never get to experience things the same way. And that will repeat with when they have kids and so on.

Long live the chalk! :p
