Well-being (freewrite)

in #freewrite5 years ago (edited)

As parents, our main concern is always the well-being of our children. We try our very best to ensure they eat healthily. We work hard to provide so that they have the environment to grow happily and comfortably.

But how well is well? How happy is happy? Does giving them the best diet increase their well-being? Does giving them sufficient playtime boost their well-being? Does sending them to the best school improve their well-being?

In this high-demanding world, sometimes we find it challenging to truly gauge the state of well-being of our children. We are busy, yes. And shame to say, sometimes we don't have the spare time to really sit down and reach to the core of their inner heart. We come back from work, exhausted, put down our stuff, say "hi" to them, spend a little bit more time with them and then it's time for bed.

I could only imagine our children yearning to play with us for hours, only in their dream.

In my opinion, giving them toys or bringing them to nice place is not THE thing that makes them happy or comfortable. But parents' care and warmth, or just being available, determine much their well-being. They want attention. They want love. They need words of affirmation. They need their parents to be by their side, most of the time, all the time.

However, children nowadays, spend more time with their nanny or babysitter, due to both parents have to go out and work. I always imagine the world would be much happier if at least one parent stay at home and be their main caregiver. But this isn't the case now.

So back to square one..

What if in every household, one parent stay back to be the main caregiver for the children, and government provides a small sufficient amount for the caregiver for doing a great job nurturing great leaders in-the-making?

Just some pieces of my thoughts.

THE END

It’s true. Taking care of a child and making sure they’re healthy, happy and loved should be every parent’s top priority. Unfortunately, for many people it isn’t. Just tonight there were several news stories on the evening news about kids who died or were gravely disabled because of their “caretakers” irresponsible or outright criminal behaviour. It’s tragic.

The good parents of the world are able to find a balance. Something that works for them and their children. Providing for their needs is difficult for a lot of parents in our area. I was a day care provider for many years and did my share of shopping for other peoples childrens needs as well as my own kids needs. I found a balance, by working from home. Sadly, some parents can't afford this luxury.

Hello, lovely We-Writer. It is that time again. Finish the story @freedomtowrite started for you 😄
