Freewriting: The Mythical Depths
If I were to create a story I think it would focus on a boy who had lost his parents at a young age and in doing so he's anti-social, a little bit shy, and very in-tune with nature. He grows up with his aunt and learns that not every caretaker knows how to love. He knows that his aunt meant no harmful intentions but he just wouldn't be able to find fulfillment with his aunt compared to his parents that he barely knew yet loved him so. He would go out into the world to find acceptance and in doing so he meets the magical creatures of the caves nearby his nearly desolate village. Desolate from the rath of a dragon from the past, stories of it getting tossed and turned so much that in the end, most believe it to be rumors. Venturing into the caves he will meet many dwarves, bluecaps, and maybe even the dragon if I'm feeling generous. The cave will have a worn feel to it but deep down will be a lake with beautiful stalagmites and glow worms illuminating his path.
Leaving the cave with the new knowledge of magical creatures, he is delighted to feel accepted and tells his aunt of it. His aunt is horrified that such creatures exist and gather what's left of the village. Charging into the cave they find it desolate and abandoned, the boy, wondering why they can't see, makes his way to his new friends and they hurry him to the lake. A mermaid there takes him deep down where he finds a magical village filled with creatures and he spends the rest of his life there, happy and content with his friends.
I would like to inspire @jordan.white306, @aden.stanway375, and @jayna to also make a freewrite using this prompt, don't feel obliged but I'd love to see what came out of it, just give yourself 5 minutes! :)
