The Little Voice - Matilda Gets Emotional
This will be my twelfth 5 minute #freewrite here in the Steemiverse. Today's writing prompt is Fire Alarm and you can find out more here. So now, without further ado...
Matilda took the small box from Mike and looked up into his face. "A gift? Now that's unexpected. What is it?" she asked.
He looked at her with that amused smirk on his face, the one he wore when he was particularly pleased with himself. "Open it and you'll find out."
She passed him her bag, and then began tearing the blue wrapping paper off. Inside was a box. It looked like a jewelry box. She carefully opened the lid. Inside there was a little red fire alarm pendant dangling from a silver chain.
She couldn't help smiling. "You idiot! It's perfect." she said and realised she was now crying. "Come here." She pulled Mike into a huge bear hug. "I love you Michael Randall. You know that, right?" she cried into his ear.
"Of course I do. And you know what? I love you too. Always have. Always will. No matter what. And, hey, take it from me, I know I've been acting the fool."
