Back Pain

She stopped at the table right in front of the cheese cake. One bite that's all she'll take. It can't do too much damage right? She looked around at the beautiful spread first. Cakes, puddings, pies, ice-cream.... sugar everywhere. It was like a dream come true for any sweet tooth.

But that annoying back pain! She vaguely remembered they were connected. The pain and the sugar, but right now she wasn't sure. The others were just standing around the table but no one was eating. They must be watching their waist. Idiots!!

She reached out for the cheese cake. She's not them. Why would these people torture themselves? What's the point of life, if you can't have your cake and eat it too. She tried not to laugh out loud at her own joke. Everyone else looked too sad and it would have been awkward.

She could already taste the glorious cheese mixed with caramel and macadamias. She swallowed hard and took a piece of the cake. Everyone looked at her, and she could hear the silent urge to put it back. She dropped the piece in her mouth and they gasped.

What a sorry lot they were. She closed her eyes so the sight of them wouldn't spoil her experience of this gorgeous cake. It went down her throat and she felt like she was floating in heaven until she felt the sharp pain in her back.

Was that a backpack? She reached behind. She tried to take it off. And then it hit her like a hot pie in her face. She had been invited to this party and she couldn't get a friend to go with her so she went alone. Every room was filled with dessert, every furniture edible and they were all amazing to the taste buds. At first she thought it was a dream come true. But as she started eating through them, this weird thing started growing on her back.

At first, it was just annoying. But then she would bump into the others and they all had it too. But theirs were bigger. And as she kept eating, because a girl's got to eat, that small lump grew. And now it was causing back pain. She wasn't even sure if it will ever come off. Maybe when she got out of this place.

She had tried to ask the others for help but nothing came out of her mouth. She didn't know how to communicate with them. She'd tried spelling things with the MnM's but they melted, she tried squirting the syrup, but it just turned out to be one big mess.

She better get back to finding a way out. But these damned desserts, they just got into her head and her mouth. And that mass on her back just grew bigger. And her back pain got worse. She tried hard to remember how she got in. It must be the same way out.

It's right there on the edge of her memory. Wait! What's that she smelt. It's her favourite. It's bread pudding. She could smell the vanilla and it smelt so good. Oh, just a little bit and then she's off.
