FreeWrite: Let It Be Me
She paced up and down. She played out all the different scenarios in her head. Except for the happy ones. She didn't want to jinx it. And it was easier to deal with the hurt of the bad ones as opposed to the good ones. No!! I shouldn't do this! I am atracting the wrong results. I sho -
"Excuse me Ms. Grace, the doctor will see you now."
Grace looked at Robert who was at the vending machine, getting a drink. He must have felt her gaze, as he looked up and she waved him over. He took two steps towards her then turned back to the vending machine to get his coins back. Then he briskly walked over and they entered the room. They sat down and waited for the doctor to speak.
"What would you like to hear?"
She was ready to explode. Were they going to play 20 questions now?
"I want it to be as easy as possible for him.*
"Then take him home and spend time with him.*
Grace looked over at Robert. Say something! Make a decision!! her eyes pleaded. But he just nodded. Did she always have to make the decision? She felt so helpless, lost but she had to continue this fight.
"What are the other options?"
"We can run a few more tests. His body has already undergone radiotherapy, and that option is now out. He is weak."
"What are you trying to say Doctor?" she asked. Speak Robert. Ask something, surely you must have questions! What the hell?!
"I'll set an appointment for the MRI and we'll take it from there. If you will just wait outside for a bit..."
They walked out. Grace's thoughts were in a mess. No parent should see their child go first. Please Dear God. I did everything right. Everything. Pleaseeeeee. He is only a baby. A baby.....
She didn't realise she was saying it aloud and Robert was holding her tight as she sobbed into his shirt.

Oh my, this filled me with tears of sadness...truly heartbreaking. Indeed, no parent should have to watch their child die. I can't even imagine how helpless and terrible that feels. Wonderful (if I can use this word) writing - because it really makes one feel.

@freewritehouse started throwing a hot potato! Don't get caught with it or you'll have to clean up after the party (without any helpers!).
It all began this week with @iamjadeline throwing a hot potato to @happycrazycon who then threw it to @byn, who then threw it to @wonderwop, who then threw it to @tristancarax, who then threw it to @whatisnew who tossed it to @svashta and if you follow what I'm saying @svashta threw it at @wandrnrose7 and she threw it to me!
Since I badly need to get rid of it to not burn my hands throwing it in the air...ouch ouch!!), I decided to throw it to you!
