FreeWriteHouse Party Day 29: Wrapping My Head Around Quadrillion!!
What is a quadrillion? I had to check it out when I saw the freewrite prompt for the day. The first thing I saw was too many zeroes. But the zeroes turned into a hero by adding a 1 before them. A million million, that’s what google said. There was more to the explanation but my mind had already wandered off to how much money that would mean.
We talk about money and we want tons. I used to say a Million, but today that may not be enough if you fall very ill. The next to aim for was a Billion and that seemed like a lot. Way more than enough and probably for generations. But recently Trillion has made its way into our conversations since we found out our country owed beyond that. I couldn't even make sense of that. It's 1 Thousand Million. And now I am trying to wrap my head around a Quadrillion!!
But what I have noticed is, the more you have the more you want. It just is never enough. You think if you have a lot of money, life would be beautiful. But it's not entirely true, is it?
Just recently we were saddened by Kate Spade and Anthony Boudain's passing. And many people would have wondered - why? They had fame which means what they did was successful and they had fortune, and yet ...
People say and even I have said, I rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable. Obviously it didn’t ring true for them. And this is why even though once upon a time I wished I had a million, a billion, a trillion and now I can add quadrillion because I thought it, what I do know is I have to look within.
The feeling of satisfaction, gratitude, and peace... that probably is beyond a quadrillion.

Awwa. This is a wonderful freewrite! I would love to have money, but there's too many strings that go along with it. We see tragedy of wealthy people taking their lives all the time. Most of them we loved because of the public face they showed but we don't see the struggles between the smiles. Happy is a feeling that comes and goes. It is keeping yourself above water in between the happy that counts and sadly money doesn't always help.

I used to envy the rich and now I'm older (and hopefully wiser) I know everyone has their own challenges...
Love what you said about happy coming and going and keeping our heads above water in between... I think I shall use that with my kids 😊
I have to say I borrowed it myself from the movie "Just Married", except they said you never see the hard times in a photo album, but it is the hard times that get you from one happy snapshot to the next, or something like that. :) Stuck in my head.

It is true. We have that sense of needing more. I listened to this very interesting show on why we are made that way - I forget now if it was a Ted Talk or Freakonomics Radio.
The show was centered around practicing gratitude on a daily basis to remind ourselves of what we have.
Only in the last decade I learnt the art of gratitude and that has helped me plenty. When I am really down, I start counting my blessings in full force.
The other thing I practice quite regularly is the Hawaiian Ho'oponopono, especially when I am really unsettled about a person...
These two kind of keep me sane haha
