The Portal ⌛A 5 Minute FreeWrite⌛

The visits were frequent. It was almost an obsession. A compulsion. A need. Dare she say it? It was an addiction!! There she said it. Over and over again, she kept going back and found herself starring at nothing. That's all she could call it. A void, an emptiness, taunting, teasing, laughing at her mounting anxiety.

Nooooooooo!!!!

She wanted her tribe!! She needed her tribe. Why could she not see her tribe?!

She tried to go about her life. There were things to do. Important things. And yet, she kept gravitating back to the portal. The portal that would connect her to the essence her tribe.

And there it was again. It looked like it was dancing. It looked like it was having fun. At her expense!! She wanted to crash it, thrash it, beat it to a pulp. But that would destroy the portal and she couldn't allow that to happen.

She decided, she would sleep it off. That would numb her feelings a little. She wouldn't have to think about it. She gulped 2 shots of whiskey. Yes, that should calm the turmoil in her head.

She lay down. Yes, she could do this. She will do this. Things always got better after some shut eye. Ok, maybe one last time. She would just check to see, that's all. Just a quick look. Either way, she would then go to sleep. Because it was way past midnight.

Oh, wait!! There's a message!!

What?!!!!! Noooooooooooooo!!

She grabbed the whiskey bottle that was sitting on the counter, with just one thought, "This too shall pass" as the liquid burnt her throat, racing into every nook and cranny of her existence.
