This has been an odd week, especially the past 3 days. My husband had rotator cuff repair surgery done on Thursday. It was at 10:45 a.m., so at least we didn't have to get up ridiculously early to get there on time. The surgery itself was done in less than an hour, but then there is the recovery time. And we had arranged for him to spend the night at the hospital, since he has some complications with asthma and diabetes and blood pressure. The surgery went very well, and he felt quite good until the nerve block wore off, about the time I got there Friday morning. I thought he would be ready to go at 9:30 a.m., but nobody seemed in a hurry to shovel him out the door, and we didn't leave until after 1:30. He was in quite a bit of pain at first, but then he finally slept for half an hour and then felt a bit better. His lunch arrived while he was asleep, so I ate half his sandwich. You snooze, you lose! We had to drive to a nearby town to pick up his prescriptions, since they had been changed since the doctor first wrote them out, and then we went to the pharmacy on our way home.

The pain meds seem to be managing his pain quite well, and he also says they make him happy. Well, at least he's not grumpy! He slept quite well in his electric recliner that we bought for this very occasion. Today he sat at the table for all his meals, and to scroll on his computer. He put ice on his shoulder from time to time, and took naps. He even came outside long enough to help me fix a problem with a garden hose. I am pleased with his progress so far.

Since it his dominant arm that is affected, I have to help him with a few things, but he is doing more for himself than I had anticipated. That is also a good thing.
