No fun!

He led her through the house to the large room at the back. Here, as usually, were flowers, a newspaper and... dogshit all over the carpet. It smelled terrible. He ignored it and she tried to do so as well. At the end of the room there was a huge bookshelf with a hidden door behind it.
"Come on", he said, "you will be surprised if you see what is down there."
She hesitated for a moment, thought about the dogshit and the absence of the dogs. Where were they? She decided to follow him downstairs into, what she assumed it was, the cellar.
It was a cellar indeed, but different as she expected. There was a canal and it all did remind her of the time she spent at the Opera with the Phantom.

"Should one have forgotten or exhausted their supply, they can use the canal", he said, "or simply use it to sneak out. Well what do you think?"
"I wonder what you are talking about and where all that dogshit comes from", she said. "Don't you think it's weird to find the whole place messed up like this? How did you find out about the hidden door, this cellar. Was it always there or did you build it?"
He ignored her questions. "You know I love you", he continued, "how about a little boat trip, just you and me?" He smiled at her and for the first time she noticed how creepy he really was.

He was drunk! She hated drunk people, not because she was not able to get drunk herself, but mainly because of the bullshit they were talking about. It was really no fun to be surrounded by drunks.
"Where are the dogs", she asked again. "Are there dogs at all?"
He giggled, he did sound like an idiot. How could she be so stupid to believe his small talk.
"Did you shit on the carpet", she asked.
"It wasn't me, well not just me", he said, "we all did."
"That's it", she said, "you can forget about me from now on. What a waste of time you are!"
She took the stairs, went straight to the front door and did not even bother to close it behind her.
