Neprest made his way up the corporate ladder by using the backs of people he befriended, as his steps. That is much different from "working" his way up that ladder.
After he made his millions he spent most of it on security due to the numerous death threats. Yes, Neprest was a sell-out, but he couldn't buy-out the serpent of death.
