Day 355: 5 Minute Freewrite Challenge initiated by @mariannewest. Wednesday-Prompt: well-being

My awesome badge was made by @fireawaymarmot and personalized by @omra-sky. Thank you!

After getting an oil change today, the mechanic informed me that I had two large leaks in my exhaust pipe and it needed to be replaced. As the manager was printing out the $465.00 estimate, he told me things that really bothered me.

"Carbon monoxide is scary stuff. It is odorless and can make you very sick. Dizziness, headaches, vomiting and it can even kill you. If you need to drive your car before it is fixed, make sure your windows are down and pray that you don't get stuck in traffic. And don't park your car in a garage."

This couldn't have happened at a worse time. My brother has been very sick and has been in and out of the hospital for the past three weeks, and Friday morning I need to take him to the hospital for a colonoscopy. I can't use my brother's car because it is a company car and I am not allowed to drive it. For our physical and emotional well-being, tomorrow I will buy a detector to see exactly how much carbon monoxide is leaking inside of my car. I can picture us now, going down the highway in the rain with 40 degree weather, praying that the alarm doesn't go off.

My cute gif is brought to you by @snook. Thank you!

two large leaks in my exhaust pipe ???

I am not too sure if you are Handy??

It depends on how big the hole is.

Pipe is a cylinder shape , which is mandible. Depend whether it do have Rust or Not.

Thing such as Exhaust Putty could works on it.

Which probably less than $20.0

Are you in Canada ??

All you need to do , get under your car and use your HP to take some photos.

I will tell you more when I see it.

May save you $400 , if you do it yourself.

Thanks so much for this info @bullionstackers. I will definitely check it out. I am in the U.S. and I can't get under my car to take a picture of it. When the mechanic was showing me the leaks I did see a lot of rust. My son is out of town and when he gets home I will relay this info to him. Sorry for the late reply but I just got home. Thanks again for your help! : )

Oh no! I swear, cars have a way of knowing the absolute worst times to need repairs... 😑

Seeing as I'm late in reading this, I hope that your drive with your brother went without a hitch and that NOW you are able to relax and take a breather! 🤗🤗🤗

Isn't that the truth! Our ride was a cold one but dry and his test was done. To add to his problems, he now has bleeding ulcers in his colon caused by taking aspirin every day instead of a perscritption blood thinner. Beware of aspirin brisby!

"Take a breather"...good one brisby! You always make me laugh...thanks! : )

Your poor brother! Did he have to have surgery to stop the bleeding? Sending out a prayer for him to be on the mend and infection free and another for your car to start behaving itself proper. 💙

Roger that on the beware! I don't take pain meds often, just some Advil a few times a year - NSAID's are nasty stuff. 😒

I'm always happy to give you a laugh! 😁

He didn't need to have a separate surgery...yet. They were able to stop the bleeding during the colonoscopy and now we are all waiting to see what happens and for the biopsy results. Thanks so much for your prayers brisby. : ) One can never have too many prayers. : )

My son can't get to my place until the 28th to look at my car. In the meantime, I did get a carbon monoxide alarm to put on the seat of my car. The alarm doesn't go off if my window is down.

OMG! I love the cartoon you sent. Gave me another good laugh...thank you so much! : ) : ) : )

I am looking and waiting for you to post. : ) I sure do miss you brisby!!!

😁 You're welcome and thank you for caring! HUGS!
I've posted a couple of entries for Bananafish conests but stll have to get back to a groove. 🐿

Yay! I am off to read them now : )
I know how you feel. When I am away, it is so hard for me to get back in that groove too.

I'm so sorry to hear that your brother has been very sick and you faced troubles with your car at the same time. Hope he gets well very soon and your troubles can be resolved shortly. Also take good care of yourself, my dear sis! ;)

Thank you for your concern and well wishes sis! It is greatly appreciated. : )

You are much welcome! ;)
