Rose Garden
Six year old Rose wrote a letter to Santa asking for one thing, thinking that he would bring her what she asked for or nothing at all. That was a chance she was willing to take. Her dream was to have a brand new two-wheeler bike without training wheels.
On Christmas morning, there it was sitting next to the Christmas tree. She couldn't contain her excitement and begged her Mom to teach her how to ride it. Her mom took her to the park with a sidewalk that went around a beautiful, large rose garden.
Mom held the bike steady as Rose sat on the seat, placed one hand on the handle bars and with one hand holding on to the back of the seat, she ran alongside. Rose finally talked her mom into letting go. The rain begins to fall; Rose pedals faster, and the bike begins to wobble. Her mom yelled, "Slow down! Put the brakes on!" and that was when she realized that she had forgotten to show Rose how the brakes worked. Rose lost control of her bike and crashed into the rose garden. Her mom ran to her and pulled a bleeding Rose out of the garden. Not a real rose, her daughter Rose. She was angry and began shouting, "Mom! How could you? How could you let go of me knowing that I didn't know how to stop?"
Rose's mom began to sing.
I beg your pardon, I did promise you a rose garden.
Along with sunshine, there has got to be a little rain sometime.
You better look before you leap, rose thorns sink deep.
And you won't find any roses growing on stalks of clover,
So you better think it over.
Because I won't always be there to pull you out,
And you know what I am talking about.
So smile for a while and lets be jolly,
Christmas shouldn't be melancholy.
