Shock of a Lifetime

Ted woke up to see a downed tree, across his driveway, by the way.
Already on probation at work, he couldn't miss another day.
He got his old power saw, and the frayed power chord he saw.
Ted remembered the old saying, "A faulty chord should be ignored."

He worked hard on that hot day; there was no breeze from the bay.
His blood, sweat and tears, poured onto the chord.
Ted got a shock, throwing him hard as a rock onto the dock.

He woke with a smoldering sock, and heard a buzzard flock.
Ted was grateful to be alive, and for the buzzards leaving him one eye.
With a sigh of relief he said, "That shock sure did clean my clock!"

To his boss's dismay, Ted's wages he had to pay,
For the rest of Ted's life, with bitter strife.
Ted happily sang, "A, ah, aye! An eye for an eye!"
