Day-597-Freewrite Sunday Rush to Judgment
Below is my five minute #freewrite on today's prompt: rush to judgement

I live in Texas, a death penalty State, but I can't understand why it takes over ten years to administer the punishment. I'm not one to rush to judgement when it comes to innocence or guilt, but when you have video of a mass murderer killing people, why do these killers get multiple appeals of their guilty verdicts. Some inmates have been on death row for over twenty years. Maybe we shouldn't even have the death penalty in Texas anymore. I have a friend with a brother in prison, everytime they released him, he would get caught so they would send him back inside. He would tell his brother that it was so easy inside, he would rather stay there than get a job and a place to live. While he was free, he would go visit his mom and family before stealing a car. I could never do time, I'm too fluffy to go to prison, plus I don't want to be anybody's bitch. Don't judge me! 😁

I am with you on the fluffiness. I could probably handle myself but would rather just avoid it at all costs!
There is no benefit to the innocent or those who make money off the process to make it more efficient or expedite the conclusion. Unless there is political gain to be made by someone in power. Then you can bet things will get done quicker!

The prison system in the US (and individual states) is definitely interesting. So much of it is quite corrupt as some prisons get kickbacks from the government for the number of inmates that they have. You end up with lots of people serving time for such trivial infractions, but then like you have noticed it takes a really long time to actually put the real criminals to justice. I had a client for a while who actually did a lot of volunteer work here in Georgia with the prison system. She helped advocate and helped get a few innocent men released after years of incarceration, but then also dealt with some of the lowest of the low. She was a truly remarkable woman.
Too fluffy to go to the prison. That makes me giggle. Haha. Always fun to read your freewrite =)
