Because I'm afraid of being electrocuted, I'm always checking for frayed power cords around the house. I check everything from the phone charging cord to the extension cords. The trouble starts because of people being in a hurry and not removing the cord from the wall correctly. I can't tell you how many times I see people pull the cord from the socket, by the cord instead of the prong head. Once the wires become exposed, you might as well purchase a new cord. Sometimes I cut the damaged area off and splice, then solder the wires to the prong head. It's usually cheaper to just buy a new cord, unless you're in a DIY mood. Just a reminder, always remove your power cord in the proper fashion, by the prong head! Safety First! ⛑️
