Worst Case Scenario Survival List
Let very small things make you happy:
the folds in your curtains as you let in the light
the new folds because
you've never drawn the curtains quite like this before
the colors of spent flowers fallen in the corner
and left there for days
in case they begin to speak
Make a list of them:
new uses for baskets
making your bed every day more beautifully than you ever have before
finally hanging pictures months after you've finished painting
slipping into slippers
a Perlman trill
just the right color of red
Then let some very big things make you happy:
slowing down
seeing in technicolor
asking for help
And remember:
you can only do what you can do

I've been thinking a lot about how to deliver lists on stage, so the prompt "list" intrigued me. I've also been marveling at my own coping-with-trauma skills, so here is my advice on how to overcome just about anything. I just love doing this. Thank you for reading!

the folds in your curtains as you let in the light - yes - and trying to capture that in a drawing! I fill in the dark areas, smudge, then use an erasor to pull out the white or light edge. But I haven't drawn in years. I'm captivated by the morning light gleaming on the edges of wood furniture. Thanks for the freewrite on the challenges of drawing and the list of coping-with-trauma skills. Art therapy (and freewriting!) should top the list. :)
Yup, true... But there's another saying... Where there's a will, there's a way... And as long as we believe and take action, somehow or rather we can do the impossible. 😉
