FRUITS AND VEGGIES MONDAY - MUNG BEAN WITH DATES😉

mung bean with dates soup😊

Hellow foodies and steemit fellows😉

I'm a bit late to post this week, because I'm away from home for several hours and I consumed an anti-alergic pill which made me sleeping longer than usual😂.

But, I'm not gonaa missed out to use #fruitsandveggiesmonday by @lenasveganliving and now posted through @veganonsteemit by our wonderful host Katie @plantstoplanks😉.

I know.. I know, I'm the judge of this week but there's no rules to prevent a judge of posting, right? Beside... I won't choose mine to be a winner 😂😂😂

My FIL surprised me by soaking the mung bean since 2.pm last saturday. I thought that he wants me to make a creamy mung bean soup. So, I decided to proceed the soup on the evening. Though 4-6 hours is not the right time to soak the bean, but I know a trick to make it well-cooked😊

I think that I will wait for another hour before I cook it, but My FIL was starting to proceed the soaked mung beans himself. I took over everything from his hand. I wash the soaked mung bean and boil the water before I put the bean in.

the trick is cook this mung bean soup with low heat in a closed pan😊 maybe around 30-45 minutes, and you can add a thumb of fresh ginger root too. Don't put any salt!

While I was cooking the mung bean, My FIL came with a can of left over dates he gots from her step daughter a month ago. He said that I need to put the dates when the mung bean well-cooked and I don't have to add coconut's cream or additional sugar. I never made a mung bean soup with dates before😨 so I followed his instruction.

I took the seed out and I know why he wanted me to add this dates into the mungbean soup😊

The dates were already to dry to consume, My FIL is toothless and he wanted to eat the dates. So, following my instinc, I need to cook this dates for a few minutes to make it a bit soft for him. The taste was too bland and plain. So I add 50 grams sugar and a tsp salt too before I turn off the heat.

My FIL ate the soup happily, I knew that he doesn't likes a sweet soup. In the other side, My hubby asked for a sachet of condensed milk for his mung bean soup😊 and he told me that he loves the dates in the soup. Though he hates the ginger taste in his soup😂😂😂.

I like them both😊 with or without dates, with or without condensed milk, with or without coconut's cream. Mung bean is always welcome 😉

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Happy day😉

Thank you @gguy773 .. this one full of carbs and sugar too😂😂

Yeah it does look sweet, but must taste nice though.

So you made it! What did you think? Dates would add an interesting taste to the mung beans. Do you think it is best with the milk too? You are so sweet to make this for your FIL, I'm sure he was quite pleased! :) So fun to experiment in the kitchen don't you think! Love this @cicisaja!

Thank you @birdsinparadise 😉 I think it would be better if we made a mung bean pesto with dates😊 a good dates will need no additional sugar for the soup. I like it though... and I think coconut's cream is better than milk😊 aahh.. wish that I could add some black sticky rice too.

I couldn't agree more with you😊 experimental cooking is a real challenge for someone who don't really loves cooking like me 😂 it just made me crazy to try it everyday😂😂

Oh, mung beans soup. My favorite! We routinely eat this in the Philippines, it really is delicious, we add some leaves and veggies too like eggplant or bittergourd. Sometimes we sautee it with coconut cream.

Haven't try adding dried fruits though, Hmmn that's interesting, might try it if i see one. Love to you @cicisaja. X

Thank you for stopping by @sherylneil 😉 funny that we have a different style on proceeding the mung beans while we are in the same part on the world 😊 we have mung bean soup sellers everyday as breakfast, tea time snack and supper or dessert too. Cheap and delicious😉 and dates... you have it easily in your place now.. the dates I use here was imported from KSA😊

Mung beans and dates--who would have thought they could go so well together? I adore dates, so I'm happy to try them in anything. I sprouted mung beans for a salad last week, but now you have me craving them in a soup. It is really cold here today, so definitely soup weather! Good job judge. 😉

Thank you @plantstoplanks 😉 it's My FIL idea😂😂😂 never thought about adding dates on mungbean soup, but it worked very well. Aahh.. the sprout we have here also a mung bean sprout😊

You made my laugh again! Honestly, you make everything funny, 😂 And I love mung beans and I was looking for mung bean dhal to make my curry, but that supermarket where I was shopping didn't have them so I got red lentil. They always have red lentil everywhere, but mung beans are not that easy to find.

Anyway, your soup sound delicious and I think the dates are great idea, because they are very healthy and sugar is not. If you can get raw coconut sugar or coconut sap that would e better 🌴🥥🌴

What are you drinking anti-allergic pill for? Is something allergic popular in Indonesia?
Wow! Mung bean? In Japan we also use a lot of beans for traditional dishes, but Mung bean is not generally distributed!
Is Mung bean commonly used in Indonesia?😊

I have a bad allergic due to my habit of smoking cigarettes😊 anyone could have an allergic to something, but mine is only to cold weather 😊.

There's no day without mung bean around in Indonesia @ryo-6414😊 we have it in bun, bread, soup and many other cold drinks too.

Cigarettes need attention ... I am not really that good…😂

Oh, Thank you for telling me!
I would like to eat it someday!😉
There are many things I do not know about tropical culture like Indonesia😃

I would have never thought to put beans and dates together, but I can imagine that it does taste very good together!
