Steemit Fruits and Veggies Monday Competition. | THE PUMPKIN.

¡Hello Dears!

It is always nice to have this window to learn and know, today as every Monday my post is dedicated to #fruitsandveggiesmonday, initiative led by @lenasveganliving to whom I must thank for your kindness and support.

Yesterday in my country was celebrated on Mother's Day, and as a good mom always tried to give the best in terms of food is treated my daughter, this time I will talk a little about the Pumpkin, known in my country as ’Auyama'. When the six months of breastfeeding were over, complementary feeding began and the first food that I decided to offer my baby was pumpkin for all its benefits.

The pumpkin or Auyama is a very versatile hard shell food, round or oval in shape depending on its variety, yellow-orange with seeds that are also edible. It has many vitamins, minerals and properties among which could highlight: Anti-inflammatory, diuretic, antiflatulent and antiseptic among others.

This vegetable is so kind that you should take advantage of its shell, fruit, seed and leaf as they all contribute countless benefits to our life to mention some could be: calcium, magnesium, zinc, sodium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, vitamins A, B and C, fiber and rich in beta-carotene; In addition, the seeds are rich in amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins of complex A, C, B, D and E and provide calcium, potassium and phosphorus.

The pumpkin has an incredible use for medicinal and gastronomic use. You can prepare creams, mashed, salads, desserts such as cakes, cupcakes, cookies, among many others. Its flowers can be eaten raw or steamed; its leaf used for medical treatments such as avoiding scabies, relieving fever or diarrhea.

There are multiple benefits that can bring to our body, among which I will mention are:

  • It helps fight anemia.

  • for the prevention of cancer.

  • Recommended to dilute kidney stones.

  • Helps constipation, as it provides a lot of fiber and is not irritating.

  • It is a natural diuretic, therefore it helps with fluid retention.

  • Excellent for the brain because of the amount of phosphorus it contains.

  • For diabetics and is a superfood, likewise for anyone who wants to take care and make a diet to lose weight.
