There is no substitute for hardwork

It is not advisable to take beta blockers in the night because it reduces the systemic pressure and may cause hypotension reducing perfusion to the brain which may lead to stroke or even death and already the system activities reduces in the state of rest. Not everyone one who has problems with their vision are suffering from ametropia or refractive errors (near sightedness and far sightedness), sometimes it goes way beyond that, it could be a matter of accomadative dysfunction, vergence dysfunction or both, either way the best person to differentiate or find the problem is a well-trained Optometrist. Nothing about the eye is just as it seems or superficial, don’t leave anything to chance, visit you optometrist today.

This outreach came about after we had our first free eye screening session for the members of Calvary Methodist Church, Santasi, Kumasi, Ashanti Region, Ghana. The elders of the community saw the deed we did and opted have the community participate in the next activity we plan since lots of people hardly visit the eye clinic for checkup unless they notice something with their vision or something happens to them in relation to the eye. So we have been preparing for quite some time now and at long last we have finally been able to do it, because the population was larger than for the church we had to make adequate preparations in relation to materials to be used, personnels, drugs, spectacles etc thus a higher budget, we were privileged to have the support of some reputable members of the community though. It made things a lot easier and better. Let me hasten to add that @mcsamm an honorable member of @wafrica was around to support the initiative. He assured the team that the africa community on the blockchain is fully backing us and that we should continue to give our all to the communities. We are grateful for the love @mcsamm, @wafrica.

What is @bettervision about?

@bettervision is is a project initiated by @nattybongo and friends to give back to the society the knowledge and skill acquired through the Optometric Studies in Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.It is an outreach system where we visit the less privileged communities to offer free eye screening services and education to the people within the community

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
To reduce or prevent vision loss through diseases such as glaucoma, cataract and refractive errors.

To enlighten the majority of the Ghanaian population about the importance of proper visual care.

To conscientize people on the need for regular eye checks

To get more people to have their wards screened within the Critical periods of a Child’s Vision Development; thus from ages 3 to till about 10 years.

To help the blind and people with low vision live a better life within the society through education of the general public to stop stigmatization.
