【EN/JP】Dog and Cat Support Society （TDCSS）犬猫支援の会プロジェクト#2

Tokorozawa Dog and Cat Support Society （TDCSS） is a volunteer group that works to carry out the goal of reducing the number of needy dogs and cats around Tokorozawa, Saitama, Japan. I personally adopted my cat from the TDCSS animal shelter.

Each year TDCSS helps find homes for a hundred cats at "NEKOBIYORI,” their shelter where you can meet cats and kittens that need homes.

To help people and stray cats coexist, we need to prevent stray cat reproduction, rather than selectively eliminating some of them. TDCSS rescues stray cats and has them spayed or neutered to prevent their increase.

From ten to fifteen cats are under TDCSS‘s care at any time. This puts a great deal of financial stress on the facility—paying for veterinary treatment and caring for each animal until a home can be found. In addition, facility maintenance and expansion costs for the past two years have been higher than expected.

In the past I donated handmade goods so that TDCSS could sell them for profit, but this hasn’t been sufficient for TDCSS’s needs.

So I decided to create a page for TDCSS to regularly raise funds for needy dogs and cats.

Selling original calendars at NEKOBIYORI would be a great way to raise funds for TDCSS. Calendars could be effective tools for raising people’s awareness of TDCSS’s work, as well as supporting animal shelters for a longer span of time.

It will cost ＄3,000.- to create 1,000 calendars.

If each calendar is sold for $10 the gross income would be $10,000. After putting some of the profit aside to create future calendars the remainder raised from the project will go directly to TDCSS to support the animals in their care. If this pattern is followed each year, we can create a sustainable fund raising system for TDCSS.

How to Fundition

「ところざわ犬猫支援の会」は、埼玉県所沢市を中心に不幸な犬猫を減らすことを目標として活動を行なっているボランティア団体です。我が家の猫はこのグループの動物保護施設から引き取りました。

ところざわ犬猫支援の会は、里親を待つ猫たちに会うことができる保護施設「ねこ日和」で、毎年100匹程度の猫を里親へ譲渡しています。

人間とのら猫がその地域で共存していくためには、のら猫を排除するのではなく、のら猫の繁殖を防ぐことが必要なのです。ところざわ犬猫支援の会では、野良猫を増やさないようにするために、のら猫を保護し、去勢・避妊手術を施しています。

ところざわ犬猫支援の会では随時10匹〜15匹の猫を保護しています。保護期間の医療費や飼育費が施設の財政を圧迫しています。それに加え、一昨年拡張工事した施設の維持費は想像以上です。

今まで私は、ところざわ犬猫支援の会が販売して収益を得られるよう手作り品を寄付してきましたが、それだけでは彼らのニーズを十分に満たすことができませんでした。

そこで私は、ところざわ犬猫支援の会の為に、funditionを使って毎年定期的に資金が入る仕組みを作ることを決めました。

カレンダーを作ってねこ日和で販売することは、ところざわ犬猫支援の会が資金を集める素晴らしい方法となるでしょう。カレンダーは、人々が意識を高め、長期間にわたって動物保護施設を支援するための効果的なツールとなるからです。

カレンダーを１冊1,000円で販売すると、総売上高は1,000,000円になります。原価を差し引いた純利益の中から翌年度のカレンダー資金を確保して、残りを全てところざわ犬猫支援の会へ寄付します。

この取り組みを続けることによって、ところざわ犬猫支援の会が毎年資金を調達できるシステムを作ることができます。
