We already have robots in our houses! Microwave ovens, radios, televisions, smart phones, .... those are all robots but only not in an animal or human form :)
Everything in time is slowly with a purpose! If you started with talking to robots in the 1940s , like robot dogs or robot humans, people should heavily protest against it because television, microwaves, computers,.... were not in most houses :) They should consider it as evil and will feel threatened to loose their family spirit. Time is not an issue, in the long term people will always say yes. Remember in the 90s that people consider those with a mobile real snobs, only for rich people who want to act superior to others? Well look now how people react if you do not have a smartphone :) At the end humans will follow the other sheep :)
