Article 13 Also Know As EU Thought Police

Hey kids, just a little catch up if you weren't already aware of the European Union's ideological book burning, also called censorship, happening as I type this.

So last week the EU decided to make an amendment to the controversial Copyright Directive, a piece of legislation intended to update copyright for the internet. So what exactly do they want to do, well there are two Articles, 11 and 13. Article 11 gives publishers the right to ask for paid licenses when their news stories are shared by online platforms, and Article 13 now states that online platforms are liable for content uploaded by users that infringes copyright.

To put it in plain English, if you share a news story on social media, you now need to have license that allows you to share that news story, and that companies can now sue the social media platform if users upload anything that might be copyrighted. This would basically completely kill anyone who wants to give commentary, criticism or parody of news or politics, kind of exactly what I do here. Basically if you were to make a meme using an image of someone, you would need to confirm that the picture you are using is not copyrighted, basically getting the photographer or the person in the image to give you permission to use it. The EU has come up with a fucking genius idea of how to stop us from doing so, a upload filter that checks to make sure we are not uploading anything that might be copyrighted. Also to make sure we don't say anything in opposition to who ever controls this filter, think of this filter like the German SS.

The problem I have is that the EU is very much one sided, exactly like the media is super left wing. Now with such power they can basically stop anyone from saying anything that does not line up with their political ideologies. They obviously are saying that they will never really do this, and anyone who thinks this is just some crazy conspiracy theorist, they will only ever use this power for good, and it's to help the poor people who's content are being stolen and used without their consent. Please what a load of horse shit, they only people who this legislation will protect is the media companies who can now cash in if anyone wants to comment on what they have said, and to stop any criticism of what they have said. This is basically worse than the Nazi book burning, this is a way to stop it from ever being said.

So this is how liberty dies . . . with thunderous applause.
