The topic of discussion in this series is the future and all the sci-fi sounding predictions made about the future by people as well as our movies and shows.

Yesterday, I talked about how in the coming decades, we will have cracked limitless clean energy that would power the next centuries of innovation, how we will be able to communicate telepathically with each other and that one day we'll be able to bring back any extinct species we want.

Today, I want to talk about a few more predictions that might sound science fiction today, but can certainly be the reality of our future. Let's dive in.

Discovery of Alien Beings

In the first part of this series, I had talked about how we will become a multiplanetary species. But add to that the discovery of alien life. This may be single celled organisms in some planet within our solar system or maybe beyond, or it may be intelligent species.

Both would have a major impact on our understanding of life itself and it would be the dawn of a new era of exploration and discovery. Of course, if we make contact with an intelligent alien species, that would be a whole another level of crazy altogether.

Imagine if a friendly alien species makes themselves known and offer to share technologies that are thousands of years more advanced than us. Our world would transform overnight. Whether or not that would be a good thing, is anybody's guess. But it sure would be cool!

Autonomous Driving

Transportation is going to change drastically as well and I think everything will one day go autonomous and electric and that would include our cars, trains, airplanes, ships, etc.

Autonomy will become so advanced, that it would actually be considered dangerous and illegal for a human to drive anything and the humans of future will wonder how/why humans were ever able to drive a heavy machinery that could potentially kill people.

Also, everything would be much faster than now. Infrastructure developments would allow for faster cars and trains and I am sure the future of air travel will be supersonic, making the world an even smaller place.

Uploading Your Consciousness

Humanity will always try to devise ways of becoming immortal and while I'm not sure if or not we'll be able to do it biologically, we certainly could do it digitally. This idea is not new and I see it becoming a reality within this century.

Imagine uploading your consciousness to a computer that will act as a backup if anything were to happen to you. This consciousness could then be transferred into a robot or remain in the computer.

Loved ones would be able to interact with this consciousness and it would be like having that person right in front of you. And if we are able to make human looking robots, the differences will be too small to notice, essentially making us immortal!
