Oak Galls

Oak galls hang from the tree like ornaments. They may even look like fruits, but by the color, not one that you would want to eat. These are produced by some oak trees as a response to a chemical produced by a kind of wasp which nests there. They are most noticeable when the trees are rather bare of leaves, some oaks shedding these during winter.
