STEEMBots - 3D Printables

One of our goals for STEEMbots is to enable every player the ability to print out, and display their bot creations as they are awarded them in game. To do this we need to make sure every bot is capable of being printed, painted, and come out looking as close as we can to the models within the game under the current constraints of 3D printing as a whole. Of course we are well aware that there is still a large hurdle when it comes to owning your own printer, and that not every person has the desire or the space for one. Which is why we offer a print service as one of our rewards on Fundition. Even though the price is a bit high at the moment we hope to lower the cost as our funding increases. We are also considering a much more aggressive reward structure so stay tuned to find out more.

Seen here @seamusflanagin is painting one of our early models to get an idea of what they will look like in the game. It also gives us a good size comparison when dealing with scaling objects within the game. For those curious they stand around 4 inches high with slight variations due to heads and various body parts.

Its worth noting that every print is a single piece with no gluing done on the final product. In the future we plan to create movable units.

All prints were done on the LulzBot Mini 1. The larger print was done in little over 5 hours on standard quality settings. The smaller print was done in little under 4 hours. In future prints we could get those numbers lower now that we have a good idea of what the final product will look like when finished. Also please note that there was no sanding done on either prints, but even without various post processing the final results were quite good in our opinion.
