Will Gaming And Gambling Dominate STEEM Blockchain?

Sensational Sunday afternoon everyone!

I read several interesting articles about gaming and gambling. Vice dapps on the Steem blockchain are booming!

The Steem blockchain categories that show the most activity are "steemmonsters" and "drug-wars"/ "drugwars-fight" ~ a relatively new blockchain game, that now is trending over 11,000 posts consistently from day-to-day and week-to-week!

Is there anything, as far as social media or crowdfunding dapps, that can compete with gaming and gambling?

I personally prefer dapps for growing Steem accounts to make them more profitable. That in my opinion may mitigate a lot of the attrition and improve the retention of active Steem accounts.

If there is one constant universal to account attrition and retention is profitability! If account owners are grinding hard blogging content and the numbers don't show up within 90 days, they quit!

Steem account attrition and retention is a major indicator of a blockchain in cryptocurrency market exchanges. The number of new accounts is one indicator as well, but attrition and retention tells an investor that account owners have found a blockchain that can help them make their dreams come true.

Therefore, gaming and gambling dapps helps tremendously to attract new account owners that will stay active for the long term.

I suspect there will be a lot more game dapps coming to the STEEM blockchain. There is just too much money, or should I appropriately say cryptocurrency, to be made from an investment. The long term dividend revenue makes it one of the best investments on the world's #1 social network.

You would think that is great news... It will insure the creation of new accounts on Steem. Not everyone wants to earn a living blogging. It creates diversity of social activities that earns participants crypto.

It also creates the false perception you can earn more on the Steem blockchain investing in games versus posting blog content. Some see it as a place to make a quick token while having fun! It can also be addictive to the point it distracts from the real bread and butter activities that generate Steem rewards!

The same forces of human nature that drives the off-chain vice of games and gambling is driving social networkers on the Steem blockchain.

How this trend towards gaming and gambling will impact the market value of Steem is hard to say. I would guess that it will be a positive influence if the dapps are successful. They add value to the Steem blockchain because accounts are created and dedicated to gaming and gambling.

Is there any concern that gaming and gambling dapps are a distraction from more meaningful initiatives? More dapps that increase the value of Steem in the cryptocurrency marketplace is needed.

Dapps that will directly impact the value of Steem is in everyone's best interest. I concede that having games and gambling dominate Steemian experience is to be expected ~ it's a vice! And it can be profitable for all Steemians involved.
