Broodmother has definitely came back up in the Meta in the recent patches. He not only serves as one of the strongest mid laners right now, but also one of the most annoying heroes to deal with in the early and mid game. Bulldog popularised the “rat” style that was widely used when playing the hero, but with recent patches, it is not just the only style he could be played in.

Broodmother now has more similarities to the old Dota 1 patches thatn we do the new one. With a BKB and some physical items (solar crest/sny etc), brood can easily move in on the enemies even in during messy teamfights. The heros’ second ability (web) makes it really easy for Brood to move around in the battlefield easily, picking off those who are off position.

The hero plays a really strong laning phase too, being one of the best counters to most of the strongest mid heroes such as Templar Assassin, Tinker, and Invoker. It doesn’t do that well against strong Meelee heroes such as PL, Ember and DK but the consensus is that he dominates almost all Intel heroes in the lane. A good pick to boost your MMR this season!
