Quake 1's game engine is being used to develop spiritual successor

Wrath: Aeon of Ruin by 3D Realms

Gladly, some developers grow tired of following mainstream media trends. Among other ittles, 3D Realms made Duke Nukem 3D back in the day, Pray more recently, but they're now taking a step forward and back at the same time - or should we call it strafing - as they attempt to carve a spiritual successor to the original Quake.

Finally, a big company going back to the truly traditional gaming roots. True FPS gameplay, where the goal isn't holding the player hands, but challenging them to keep up. Now we're talking! But if it's using such an old engine, won't it look old? I would say... Yes, but beautifully.

Even though the visuals look like they're from decade ago, they are presented in such a creative and detailed way, noone can say that's not a game to grow anxious about. The story is quite interesting as well, amd although simplistic, lets the studio create a dark, demonic and gothic world to bring us awe.
