Why is The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask so different?

in #gaming5 years ago

Undoubtedly The Legend of Zelda is one of the video games that has stood out for a long period, since its appearance in the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986 has left all video game players fascinated with its dungeons and game system.

Since then, they have released a variety of titles referring to the universe of The Legend of Zelda, each of them are indirect sequels, that is, from one game to another in their plot 100 years have passed, but there is one of them that was a direct continuation.

Ocarina of Time was a wonderful title which came out for the Nintendo 64, seeing the success it represented for the company decided to make a sequel, what nobody expected is that it would start right at the end of Ocarina of Time, to this delivery the title Majora's Mask.

Unlike other titles, Majora's Mask gave the player something nobody expected, we were all used to the typical hero chosen by the gods to save Hyrule from evil, rescue a princess and protect the Triforce, but in this case none of this applied.

Since we started the adventure we noticed a bit of a cold and tenebrous atmosphere, watching Link get deeper and deeper into Lost Woods, until it finally falls into a parallel dimension called Termina.

It is here that we realize that time is our main enemy, there is no longer a princess to rescue or Triforce to protect, it is about helping an entire population to avoid total annihilation, but not only that, we must also resolve some disadvantages among villagers, which are in different states of mind and suffering.

But let's talk about our hero Link, when he arrives at this new place he doesn't know anyone at all, but as he resolves some of the problems among the villagers, they recognize him as a good friend.

However, this does not help much, because it must constantly rewind time to avoid the destruction of Termina, causing any friendship it has formed to fade away, they will not remember their existence, remaining in constant solitude.

On the other hand, we have the masks, these are a gesture of gratitude offered by the citizens of Termina to help us, but there are 3 main characters who belonged to certain characters who died without fulfilling their mission of life, they are their souls materialized, our goal will be to be able to perform the actions they could not do.

These souls will be released the moment Link fulfills his wishes, as long as this does not happen they will be in eternal suffering, this can be noticed when we put on these masks, Link suffers in a frightening way the torment of these souls in pain.

It is incredible that the culprit of all this is a mask, but it is not just anything, it is a cursed object that wants total destruction in a very peculiar way, seeing everyone suffer through despair, agony and crying.

Even in the final episode we can notice this, when he tries to confuse us with certain phrases in order to suffer with our loneliness, but he did not know that this warrior went through the most desperate trials in the adventure of Ocarina of time.

It's these and many more reasons that make Majora's Mask a unique and special game in the entire Legend of Zelda series, you may find it a bit strange at first, but as you delve into its story you'll want it never to end.

Wait, Termina was from a parallel world? Eh, better than "it was a figment of Link's imagination."

excellent game

To this day Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda title, and ranks up there with my favorite games of all time.
