Destiny 2: Finally Got the Ikelos Shotgun from Escalation Protocol!

I have been enjoying every moment of the Destiny 2 grind ever since Forsaken was released as Bungie was very strategic on how to release the content for the game. Instead of deploying it all, they time-gated the content but in a way that was relevant to the story and lore which is truly great as it demonstrates how to integrate the lore to the activities being done every week. The content has been enough to also bring back players that may have been disappointed from the past DLC content.

A number of my friends fall into that bucket so I have been seeing more of them wanting to go back and complete prior activities to get weapons and objectives. This has also given me a chance to get some drops that I never was able to do given the RNG of the game and the limited attempts. One example of this were the Escalation Protocol weapons from the Warmind DLC, the Ikelos. While I had gotten the sniper rifle in the past, the SMG and Shotgun never dropped. Given the power level of the activity, more than 6-7 players were needed in the past to complete the 7 levels. Now, it can be done with 5 high powered guardians and they also added a mechanic that once the level 7 is completed, you can try all of over again starting at level 6 instead of level 1 which made it a “farmable” activity.

Given how highly coveted the Ikelos shotgun is still today, some of my friends went back and got it rather quickly. So the next night, a couple of friends and I grouped up and went to farm the activity. I have to admit that having fun makes the time go fast despite in taking about 2 hours of completing the activity to finally get the drop. Of the three on my fireteam, I was the second to get it so it took an additional half hour to permit the third on our team to get his own. But the mission was accomplished and the Ikelos Shotgun is now ours. Mine actually dropped fully leveled up at tier 10 Masterwork! This will for sure be a great tool to continue through the engaging content that Bungie has given us with Forsaken.
