Official Twenty20 Big Bash cricket game coming in November

Big Ant Studios announced today that they are developing Big Bash Boom, an official Twenty20 cricket game. Big Bash Boom is officially licensed, so all players from the forthcoming KFC Big Bash League (BBL) and rebel Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) will be playable. Big Ant Studios, developers of last years Ashes Cricket and 2016's Don Bradman Cricket 17, have a strong track record with sports and Cricket games. However, where those games excelled at simulating test match Cricket, Big Bash Boom looks to introduce more action packed, arcade style fun.

“Our previous cricket games, such as last year’s Ashes Cricket, have been known for being authentic, simulation style takes on the sport,” Big Ant Studios CEO, Ross Symons, said.

“We wanted to do something different with Big Bash Boom. Just as the BBL itself has grown to become Australia’s favourite family summer event, this is a game the whole family can jump into and have a great time with.”

With flaming pitches, whimsical cosmetic items and power-ups for both bowlers and batters, Big Bash Boom looks to excite the Cricket game genre in the same way Twenty20 has excited the sport. This arcade style gameplay makes the game a lot more approachable than the simulation styled Ashes or Don Bradman Cricket. Players don't need an in-depth knowledge of Cricket or even Twenty20 Cricket. The best comparison to another game would be the NBA Jam series, which took the sport of basketball and used it as a blank canvas for fast-paced action.

With the Big Bash now Australia’s biggest cricketing competition, we wanted to work together to create an accessible game for fans of all ages that reflects what people love about the BBL,” said Cricket Australia’s Head of the Big Bash, Kim McConnie.
