Turok 64 Port Announced for the Nintendo Switch!

in #gaming5 years ago

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (better known as Turok 64) was an Action-Platformer FPS, beloved by many for the PC and the Nintendo 64- in which you explore the world shooting down dinosaurs, aliens and technological hybrids to find the Chronoscepter's eight pieces and save your world. Turok 64 was originally developed by Iguana Entertainment and published by Acclaim and this time, Nightdive Studios are taking the helm and porting this classic to the portable market of the Nintendo Switch.

Though this game might not be greatly impressive on the Nintendo 64 today (especially if you grew up with 720p graphics and higher) the game did look impressive when it launched, and it was one game that you'd be silly not to own back in the day. Nightdive Studios seemed to stay true to the look of the original- and simply offer a complete port, with up-scaled graphics. As a fan of the original, I love the look and much prefer it over a complete remake, but I do understand this sharp polygonal look may not appeal to everyone. Nightdive Studios also had the chance and ported Turok 64 to the Xbox One last year, on March 2nd, 2018 so you can expect that any issues or bugs that may have been found in the main code of that build should be ironed out and ready for a full release on the Nintendo Switch.

Turok 64 lives on in many retro gamers hearts- and should live with younger gamers, so we can all enjoy this classic for many years to come (especially since this version is portable for the first time!) I'll be more than happy to step back into the shoes of Tal'Set as I venture, once again, through the land shooting at various lifeforms. Turok 64: The Dinosaur Hunter is set to release for the Nintendo Switch on March 18th, 2019.

Despite being kind of dumb and rather dated, there is a special place in my heart for Turok 64 all the same.

Glad too see it getting a bit of love.

I still remember booting this up for the first time with 5 of my friends in the room. Good times haha

I'm glad the switch is finally getting some games onto their marketplace. Now I just wish I could afford to actually buy a switch, but I'm too god damn poor. I need to get out on the street corner or something, I guess.

Lets be honest though, the switch is pretty pricey!
