League of Legends Worlds 2018 - Day 1 - Team Liquid and Cloud 9

in #gaming6 years ago

In case you don't follow E-Sports one of the largest tournaments has just started in Korea, the League of Legends 2018 Worlds tournament. You have teams from Europe, North America, China, Korea, and several other countries fighting it out to see who is best. Currently, there are 4 teams per group playing in best of 1s to see how teams rank in each of the groups. I think at the end of this round the top 2 teams from every group moves on to the next stage of the tournament.

The first game I watched this morning was Team Liquid vs. KT Rolster. Basically NA's rank #1 team vs. Koreas rank #1 team. The game held very little surprises as KT Rolster had a pretty dominant victory and controlled most of the game. Team Liquid, however, was able to secure some objectives during the game and even though they were losing most of the game, it never looked like the team had given up or shaken and they were always looking for ways to get back into the game. If you'd like to watch the full game you can go to Lol Esports on Youtube, but below are some highlights from the game.

The C9 story was pretty much the same today. C9 is NA's "3rd ranked" team however many feel they are stronger then NA's 2nd ranked team 100 Thieves. C9 started off against a difficult team and many favour them to win the whole tournament. RNG came out with a dominant performance. I think the base was broken around the 20-minute mark without RNG having Baron. Again, I liked C9's performance and especially Svenskeren who usually feeds his @$$ off having a really respectable game.

Favourite game of the day is G2 vs Afreeca Freaks. G2 is an EU team that had a crazy upset over the Korean team Afreeca Freaks. It also featured a Heimer ADC in the bottom lane on the part of G2. G2 had a shaky start, but after handing over first blood seemed dominant the rest of the game split pushing around Camille and Korea not knowing how to play around Heimer. Heimer will be the first ban against G2 for the rest of the tournament which will be interesting to see if another champion will be left up that G2 will be able to exploit for "easy" wins.
