Hi Fellow Steemian Gamers,

Before I get down to the news I wanted to update you all on my goal of reaching 200 followers. Thanks to all your hard work I have smashed 200 followers and like I promised I will be making my big announcement tonight or tomorrow depending on time.

I just want to say thank you all for your continued support too my blog and also our gaming community on Steemit.

News...

So we all know that the latest news from EA was the most downvoted post in Reddit history and upset so many people that the developers have even had death threats.

EA didn't take long to respond however and tried to put a position spin on things but by this point it's too late with a vast amount of people even cancelling their pre-orders.

Their solution to the issue was to reduce the grind time by 75% which is a drastically large increase considering it would have taken a player over 40 hours to complete a minor task.

Here is the catch EA failed to mention when it announced that it would be reducing hero unlock costs in Star Wars Battlefront 2 is that in-game rewards have also been reduced. Prior to the changes, completing Star Wars Battlefront 2‘s story campaign rewarded players with 20,000 credits, but that reward has been reduced to a mere 5,000 credits.

They haven't really addressed the issue in fact they seem to have made it a lot worse and they are still relying on people using real money to purchase the upgrades.

How do you feel about this? Are the changes enough to satisfy you? I think EA have done some serious damage here.

They will never be able to make this game mainstream with real gamers if this pay to win system is not removed and every player gets equal footing to compete with other players.

Pay to win really frustrates me. Don't get me wrong a love a good loot box but only for

As long as the loot crate system exists with statistical perk star cards, the game just plays like a free to play. I honestly think these responses are a way to stop a public outcry and keep share prices for the company stable. It's contradictory that in that reddit post they believe that the game should make people feel accomplished and proud of their grind yet they present the grind to be reduced significantly (even though they hide the reduction in star credit rewards). It's just all a typical PR stunt in my eyes, which is a real shame

This is offtopic, but I do feel that it is something that I must point out.
Whilst I understand that people are not happy about the lootboxes in Battlefront II (even if I understand why they have them in), the people that send death threats to developers are hugely in the wrong for many reasons. It is also their actions that give the gamer community a bad image.

Firstly, death threats are never a joking matter and the people that do them need to get their priorities fixed, they give every man, woman and child who sees themselves as a gamer a bad name.
Secondly, it's not a developer that makes these decisions, the developers are merely told to create such a feature with little or no say in the matter, so from the go the rage is aimed at the wrong person.

Back to the actual topic!
I wouldn't say that EA have seen the error of their ways. If they had, they would have totally reworked the lootbox system. As I state in many of my replies on this topic, I totally understand why they are in these games and am willing to accept some form of them. However when they tie it to items/objects/characters that are used in-game then the problems rise.

What EA have done is simply tried to go round the rage by saying "oh look we made it cheaper and easier" and by making the boxes cheaper, I would hazard a guess that even more people are likely to buy them now.

Couldn't have put it better myself you are completely right with both your points thank you for getting involved
