Hello everyone, hope you're doing well, and thanks for joining me as I give you the rundown of EA's press conference for E3 2018! This time of year is like Christmas for gamers as E3 finally kicks off, and we get to see all of the upcoming titles that all the biggest developers in the industry have to offer. To start this years event EA, the world's most hated company, took the stage, and showed us what games they have been working on. To be honest with you it was pretty underwhelming, with only a couple surprises to talk about. I think they were playing it relatively safe, due to some of the backlash they had to deal with since last years E3. So lets talk about their presentation, and keep in mind this is just the beginning, the best ones are yet to come.

EA started their conference with Battlefield V, which everyone already knows about so it wasn't that exciting. I'm not that big on multiplayer games, so this doesn't really interest me that much. If the game has a decent single player campaign I will probably pick it up, but with so many other excellent titles coming out this might get overlooked.

They showed us a little bit more gameplay then they did in the first trailer, but still not that much which is kind of strange. Some cool features were showed off, like the destructible environments with tanks plowing through houses. You can set up heavy artillery guns and move them around the battlefield, which is a new mechanic. They announced that there will be no loot boxes, or premium pass, good on you EA that's a step in the right direction. But they did feel the need to hop on the latest bandwagon, and said that there will be a battle royal mode as well. More of this game will be shown at Microsoft's conference Sunday, June 10th.

After that they announced the usual suspects, with a new Fifa game, Fifa 19, and of course Madden 19. I don't think anybody was genuinely surprised, or excited to see those. Then Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, took the stage to present us with a new cloud based service that's coming soon called, Origin Access Premier. This is a service that will allow PC gamers to get the latest games right when they come out, and I really didn't care about this so I kind of zoned out for a minute.

A new Star Wars game was announced in the most uneventful way possible. The woman running the conference went into the audience with the microphone and started talking to what seemed like a random person in the crowd. Apparently he was someone who is part of the development team working on a new Star Wars game that takes place between Episode 3, and Episode 4, where the Jedi are all being hunted down. This sounds like a promising game, but we wont get to play it until Holiday 2019, and let's be real, chances are it will get delayed until sometime in 2020.

More DLC for Star Wars Battlefront 2 was talked about as well. Coming soon we will get characters from the Clone Wars time period, like General Grievous, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Count Dooku. I'm not sure they can save that game from the terrible reputation it's earned itself, but it's nice to see them supporting it anyway. The only 2 games that were kind of a surprise were these little indie games, Unravel Two, and Sea Of Solitude.

I never played the first Unravel game, but now it's back again with a sequel, and this time you can play co-op with a friend. Yarny, the little red yarn man, and his blue friend are going on an adventure. This time the game is more challenging, with tougher, more complicated puzzles to overcome, as well as more dangerous foes to look out for. You can play single player, or work together with someone else as you traverse the beautiful landscape, trying to survive. Even though I didn't play the original, this one actually looked really good, and I might pick it up. The best part is, if you're interested in getting this, it is AVAILABLE NOW on PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Sea Of Solitude, or SOS, was up next, and this was another small indie game that looked pretty good. The woman presenting this game was a little overwhelmed, and didn't really explain it all that well, but apparently it's a game about loneliness, and what it can do to someone. You play as a girl, named Kay, who is so alone that the darkness within her turns to the outside, turning her into a monster. The game is about finding out why this happened, and how she can learn to deal with it, while traversing a flooded world inhabited by other strange creatures. It doesn't come out until Early 2019, so we still have a bit of a wait on this one.

To round out the show EA showed us a little more of their most anticipated upcoming game, Anthem. This looks pretty good, but I'm still not quite sure if it's something I will enjoy. They talked about how the game world is always changing, even when you're not playing, and how you can team up with friends to go on missions, or go it alone if you so choose. We got some information about the story, and the four different classes of armor suits that you can wear. Every time you go out on a mission you can equip yourself with one of these suits. Each of the four have different pros and cons, but you are not stuck to only one, and can try out all of them. This has a release date of February 22nd, 2019, and depending on how it turns out, this could be EA's next big thing.

That was pretty much everything that they had to offer, with only a couple small indie surprises. I was hoping for something bigger that would get everyone talking, maybe get EA some positive press, but ultimately they played it safe. Battlefield V, and Anthem are the heavy hitters, with Unravel Two, and Sea Of Solitude rounding things out nicely. This was a disappointing way to start off E3 2018, and hopefully the next few days will be more eventful. What did you think about EA's presentation? Were you happy with it, or did it put you to sleep? Feel free to let me know down in the comments below, and have a great day. I'm going to give EA's 2018 conference a grade of...……………
