A Firsthand Review of an Android Thriller; AVP EVOLUTION

Do you love scary games? Do you want a game that would make you adjust your sitting position twice in a second? Okay. This is the right place for you. I'm not much of the horror type though but I fall pretty hard when it comes to thrills. Back in 2014 during one of my routine game researches, I came across this masterpiece. Everything clicked! I downloaded and played through it's world of action. Albeit, I didn't get to finish it because my phone's specifications were below par. Recently, I downloaded it again with a better phone and I just ended the tour. I must say, Great!

It generally encompasses a feud between aliens and predators. It comprises 20 levels; 10 levels each for Alien and the other for Predator with 14 side missions. You both play as an Alien and as a Predator (not simultaneously). It's much about the fight, the horror, the thrill, the suspense, the fear and if you are not a fan of those, please make a U-turn. This is a game with an almost perfect score on the 3 most important factors in a game: The Story, The Graphics, The Gameplay.

STORY

The Aliens live and die protecting their queen. The Predators are launching an attack on the queen and only the aliens can save her. You get to play as an alien who fights tirelessly with other "comrades" to protect the queen which unfortunately, they failed at. The predators takes control of the queen and all her underlings. This is a battle programmed to fail so your dexterity is negligible here. The super predators uses the queen to breed new aliens which they utilize in the battlefield.

Weyland-Yutani, A corporation in a desperate quest to breed alien minions, pitch their tent near the queen's temple. They somehow were able to extract a few facehuggers from the hatching eggs into their hub. This is where the journey begins. As a facehugger, you have to infect a scientist and grow into an alien. Free of both the super predator and the Weyland-Yutani's influence. This is a very interesting episode. As harmless as the facehugger looks, it was still able to make a few kills.

Now fully grown, the alien makes it way through the colonial Marines' defense. This was a mixture of easy and tough. They looked petrified at first sight a freed alien and the alien capitalizes on their fear. It frees some facehuggers and some other captured aliens but then.. While it basks in the euphoria of the mission's success, a predator is sighted.

Since the Super predators' victory over the Alien Queen Mother and the subsequent control over her warriors, they haven't had a real test of their influence. A Jungle Hunter predator is captured to this effect and he struggles to fight off the Aliens. Alas! he is neutralized by the Aliens and decapitated by one of the Super Predators who shows a sense of satisfaction. Like the Alien Mission 1, this is programmed to fail.

Just before dying, a message was sent to a young jungle hunter predator, warning of the impending danger and a call to fight. The super predators launch an attack on your scout ship. As the relatively young jungle hunter predator, struggle to find your way out of the ship and get yourself some sharp blades to "slice" your way out.

With an escape pod, the young predator makes his way out of the ship. Although naive and inexperienced, he still has to fight his way out of the ship. This is a very difficult challenge considering the lack of protection (armor) against guns from the soldiers. He has only the blades!

ALIEN

The Alien Hive makes a call to you and you have to fight through the Weyland-Yutani very heart. Your dexterity is needed here to ward and fight up enemies. The alien is a bit skilled here as some upgrades are available. The Marine drop ship is a threat here.

PREDATOR

As a bit skilled predator also, continue to fight your way through the research facility in an effort to locate the ancestral weapons stored there. To this effect, you get the plasma cannon as a reward which is used to blast your enemies from a distance.

ALIEN

In your quest to cut the power in the generator room, it takes you deep into the sewer system, right below the marine base and marred with automatic sentry guns. You definitely have to find your way back up before you would do that.

PREDATOR

The predator makes his way through a restricted area of the research facility, fully aware of the danger posed by aliens under the super predators' control. But there's a prize he must strive for; the predator mask which can help him see through the dark.

ALIEN

It's finally getting dangerous here as an Armoured personnel carrier is on your tail. You have to destroy everything in your way and equally evade the APC. You sure have to run in this one.

PREDATOR

Thanks to the predator mask that was gotten from the previous episode. You are not left clueless after aliens cut the power. You have to fight your way through the area with the new found thermal vision. But you also have to be careful, there are lasers!

ALIEN

Now it's getting messier. You are to navigate through the mountains in order to infiltrate a large marine building. As easy as it looks, there's more to it: Combat androids numbering about 50-100 are waiting for you and surprisingly, a super predator stalks you.

PREDATOR

Just Outside the marine base, you encounter your scout ship's wreckage. You need to fight your way through and get a holographic map. Unfortunately, it is being evacuated. You need to fight faster now don't you?

ALIEN

You are now getting close. There's a long tunnel that leads to the temple. It is used for research purposes and to move various tech and you need to get through. There's a powerloader waiting for you by the way so this is one of the deadliest fight. It is also heartbreaking to see brainwashed Aliens fight against you.

What I really like about this game is not its fast paced action, but the eerie music that flows along with each scene

PREDATOR

You are also getting closer to the beast. Now inside the temple, you have to face both predators and combat androids. It is a fight to the death!

ALIEN

Now inside the the temple, you need to get to the queen. Unfortunately, the temple is the super predators and the combat androids ultimate proving ground.

Once done, you are now ready to take on the super predator, the ultimate test! Get your armors, gears, tail, claws ready and upgraded. This is one hell of a fight

PREDATOR

Congratulations, you are also ready to take on the queen. Get your weapons ready!

After successful completion of all levels. There are miscellaneous waiting for you. Remember the game fruit ninja? Ok so you get something like that. Swipe and slice the Aliens and predators popping up your screen as per the rules in a whole new level.

Then another level where you play as the xenomorph queen to eliminate all the human threat. There's also the battle generator where you can select your custom foes for your token and revenge all you want.

GAME STORE

As an alien and for xeno points, you can upgrade the body, tail, head and also get items and abilities for your alien, all of which have their advantages. I currently have the berserker Alien body, head and tail equipped. Their functions synchronize.

As a predator and for honor points, you can upgrade your masks, armours, melee, heavy melee (claws), guns, gadgets + items and abilities. I equally have the berserker series equipped for my predator.

This game is currently on the google playstore with over 50 thousand downloads. Although it is paid (393 Naira), a little above a dollar. It is surely worth the while.
