GANGSTAR VEGAS REVIEW: One of the Best of the GTA Mobile Series

I bet 90% of gamers have played open world games and most of us really find them interesting. The ability to explore the vast map and satisfy our innate desires within the game environment. Speaking of open world games, the GTA series are the most popular of them all, on Android, iOS, PC, Console. They rarely fail to come short of our expectations. GTA San Andreas (S.A) and GTA V found its way into the lips of game lovers but sometimes we tend to ignore the others under the series that are quite interesting like GANGSTAR VEGAS Android & iOS which was released on June 7 2013.

Nowadays, the rate at which online games fill the air is alarming but understandable, there are lots of advantages over offline games; They generate more money for the developers through ads, they are very hard to hack. And the first GTA series which was completely online was the Gangstar New Orleans which I played for a while. I enjoyed it though because of its low poly graphics: A unique way to stand out of the crowd but I quickly got bored because of its online status and opted for Gangstar Vegas from the Google play store. It has a whooping 50 million downloads and 4.5 ratings from 4 million people. That alone is an assurance that it is worth the while. Few minutes into the game, I already began to have a sense of relief and then I decided, It is worth reviewing.

After successful installation, it shows you an overview of what you are dealing with; You are a UFC fighter and you have a boss to answer to, a cruel boss as it seems. Then you won a match you were suppose to lose and the boss haunts you throughout town. You are also to show him you are not a toy to be trampled upon. Before you start, you are notified of the coarse language and actions that should not be represented in the real world, you are required to select your age and sex and then you are to accept the terms and conditions. All menu options cannot be clicked unless you start a new game.

There are a combination of scenes that welcome you; Jason (Your character) drives through the city and fades into a corner, then the screen goes blank and boxing sounds could be heard in the background with crowd cheers which suggests they are on stage, it brightens up and you watch your character fight vigorously with another fighter. Frank (Your boss) keeps blabbing in the background of how no one can break the system. Then you are allowed to fight your opponent with a little tutorial, just a few punch in seconds before it fades out.

Another scene brightens up and it shows two guards drag a obviously exhausted guy down to the knees of Frank and Jason, the former starts to complain about how the guy thinks he can outplay the system. He says I should take a good look at the guy and says that no one can game the system and he himself is the system. He then asks Jason if he knows what happens to people like this, Jason watches in palpable fear as Frank shoots the guy in the head. Then the scene fades out.

The fight continues and you are given the controls to fight for few seconds.. Another scene shows Jason and Frank outside and Frank asks Jason if he understands what he is saying; "You down, in the fourth". Probably means Jason should lose in the fourth round... Then the fight continues and Jason gives his opponent an uppercut which unfortunately sends him crashing to the ground. Jason, apparently worried, shouts at his opponent to stand up but it looks like it is over. Sensing the danger, Jason makes a run for it and jumps into the car in an attempt to get away but Frank and his boys chase him.

In a desperate attempt to save his life, Jason gives his friend, Vera, a call and informs of the danger he is in. Then suddenly, Frank's boys shoot the Tyre and it sends your vehicle tumbling. Jason tries to get out of the car but he is stuck, then a guy comes to shoot him and Jason begs for his life, reiterating his intention not to knock his opponent out but he was having none of it. Just as he was about to shoot Jason, a car from nowhere knocks the guy to the ground and a girl alights from the vehicle to help Jason out of the car.

Jason his given a gun to shoot the enemy cars while in motion. They continue to chit chat in the car as Jason sends enemy vehicles exploding. Soon, an helicopter joins in the chase and Jason takes it out. But not before long, the reality that they are outnumbered dawns on them. Karen - the girl in the car- asks Jason if he can swim and as Jason asks the reason for the question, they drive into a river. Another scene shows an old lady trying desperately to unlock a truck but as she tries, two cops walk in and questions her. As they get to inquisitive, Vera knocks them out. Not long after, Jason and Karen joins her and they start an introduction. Jason notifies her of the situation at hand and Vera asks Jason to drive the truck. They drive home as the cops chase them.

The story line is enough to keep you busy and each episode can take up to 5 minutes. Sometimes you have to travel long distances to before you get to mission destination. Vehicles can be bought from the store for diamonds and they are really expensive, clothes, caps, hairstyle can be customized too. Side missions are available and they increase the level of your player and some missions require certain player levels before being played.

I will make another review of the side missions and an insight into its world of customization + an alien level to intrigue you. This game, however, requires at least 2gb from your internal storage and at least 1 gb ram to run effectively on your phone.
