Total War WARHAMMER: Realm of the Wood Elves Review

I finally got a hold on this DLC from Total War Warhammer when I preordered Curse of the Vampire Coast for Warhammer 2. Every DLC race from the first game transfers to 2nd one, which makes my race collection complete. There are 13 different races in the game atm, each one completely different from mechanics and gameplay standpoint.

Every race has that special dark fantasy feel to it and Wood Elves are no different, specially because their starting lord is Durthu, a huge tree capable of casting spells as well as crush his enemies with his huge flaming sword, amount of destruction he can make is huge. Wood Elves special campaign resource is amber which you will use to upgrade your main tree "the oak of ages", to get amber, however, you will need to expand and conquer nearby settlements.

The rest of the faction comprises of quick hit and run cavalry, fast moving archers with different special arrow loadouts, treants are there to soak damage, and some air units will take out the stranglers and quickly reinforce some of your weak points. Wood Elves are not very tanky faction, their tactic is hit and run and try to outmaneuver your opponent and pick them apart with arrows.

It will take practice to perfect their tactics, you can definitely have an easier time with other more straightforward races. Wood Elves are very different than their High Elves and Dark Elves cousins, they are more bestial than other elves which makes their unit roster stand out and look cool, I really like this race.

It is not a secret what a huge fan of Total War Warhammer I am, with Wood Elves I can have fun until Vampire Coast comes out. Score: 8.5/10.
