Warhammer Chaosbane Review

Warhammer Chaosbane is an ARPG set in Warhammer fantasy universe in the middle of Chaos invasion at the heart of the Empire of Man. Your goal like in any ARPG is to slash the hell out of blood thirsty demons of chaos with four available classes and save the realm from evil. Every one of the classes has it's voice actors and their backstories are not too deep, but interesting enough to try them out. Those classes are High Elf Mage, Wood Elf Scout, Empire Soldier and my favorite Dwarf Slayer. Dwarf Slayer is like a Barbarian from Diablo games, but with less armor and with more blood thirst in his eyes.

Character development system has a different set of abilities to use and each one has a cost, for example lvl 1 Axe slash will cost nothing, lvl 2 will cost 5 points, lvl 3 will cost 10 points, each level will empower those skills, but it will cost more to use them. You will try to balance 4-5 abilities, including passives to create a strong character. There is also a passive skill tree that will unlock more powerful "God" skills that will clear everything with ease. Itemization is not too deep, you will collect a ton of loot that will provide you with stat boosts like HP, Armor and Damage, it's a very basic system, specially when you compare it with complex ones like in Path of Exile.

Once you complete the campaign your character should be around lvl 45, then you can try the end game which is definitely not a deep end game like forever mentioned Path of Exile. End game is a set of different map types like Expeditions which are just random maps, Boss rush will make you fight a boss, and Relic Hunt is a mod where you buy maps that are harder to finish and will drop better loot. End game is nothing special to be frank. Basically the best part of the game for me is it's campaign where you fight all sorts of greater demons and rush through the story that will depending on your play style, class, clear speed last you for around 10h.

Chaosbane as a multi platform game certainly has its share of flaws, like it's inventory system that is clearly tailored for the consoles, the game feels generic at times, every one of 4 chaos factions has the same units, story is not as interesting as it should of been considering how rich in lore the Warhammer fantasy universe is, but it is certainly one of those games that can offer you decent amount of fun if you happen to like ARPGs, action is fluid, graphics are nice, and if you happen to not mind the consoles influence, sure give this game a try.
