World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth Review

I played Battle for Azeroth for a month and here are my impressions about the 7th expansion. Yes this is the 7th one and remarkably Blizzard keeps on cashing in from the long term subscribers. I never jumped into the whole Wow craze, but I had to experience one expansion launch at least once in my life until the game slowly withers away into oblivion 150 years from now.

The main event after Legion is the war between old factions who were allies one expansion ago. Tensions are running high as the Horde and the Alliance are trying to get a hold of Azerite, a new highly valuable resource to fuel their war machinery with. Both factions have two separate islands to explore, each booming with interesting quests, factions and locations.

Of course the main goal is to get as much azerite as you can because with it you will fuel your new artifact equipment which you will upgrade with every new batch of azerite. You can upgrade your necklace, armor, helm and shoulder pads with it. Those upgrades will increase your power level and thus unlocking harder content like dungeons and raids.

You will get azerite through new world quests you can do daily on every island, or you can do new randomized Island Expeditions with two other players and compete against opposing faction. For me both of those new content pieces, aka. World Quests and Island Expeditions were getting repetitive very quickly after I completed new island story quests.

Your base of operations is very similar to Class halls from Legion, this time everyone will hang around on the big alliance ship anchored inside the new island's port city. There you will order your heroes to do quests for you, again increasing your reputation with factions and gathering azerite for you. It is something extra you can do in the game while relaxing.

Crafting is also something you can do once you get tired from all the grinding, but you will find yourself grinding even more while doing crafting or professions.

Now when I got Wow out of my system I can honestly say this game is not for me, but I do understand why old fans keep sticking around. It is a huge game whirling with possibilities, it has a rich and deep story, it has its own economy and the largest player base in any MMORPG ever! Battle for Azeroth was interesting while questing, after all that was done I did some dungeoning, World Quests and Island Expeditions, it got old very fast and that was it for me. Score: 78/100.
