Play as a Alpha or Beta player or wait till official release

Hi and a good day to you all out there.

Today will be looking at the benefits and also some of the disadvantage of been an early game tester, say a Beta tester or more of an early stage alpha tester.

Now before a game is released officially to the public, the developers sometimes require the views from other users, say their experience playing the game, the need to change or add more features to the game and it usually takes a lot of time before it is officially released.

Nobody want to release a crappy game to the public only to end up getting say 100k download and after few weeks no more update comes in and soon it becomes an abandon project. We probably experienced such games once in a while, a game that started out early but ended terrible and I must say most times its really annoying especially to the users who had their hopes up.

Alpha and Beta stage testing is becoming more and more popular, probably is because most of the games been developed now, centers on battle royal and the need to have the users say on the game is becoming more and more relevance, rather than just a closed indoor decision about how the game comes out or in what form and manner the gameplay would take.

Take paladins for example, it’s been on Beta stage for as long as I can remember and just recently it was officially released to the public, during its Beta stage a lot were achieved and a lot is still going to be achieved, now during the BETA stage a lot of update were made, some required you downloading files worth 3gig and others not so much, maps were added and others were removed, a never ending cycle I must say.

One of the map/update I still consider best up till date was the introduction of an open world fight system which only lasted few days before it was taken down, although I did do a little review about it which you can find from Here, the map was called Battleground and players were restricted to use certain champions randomly selected, you had the option to play as a team or solo match and I must say the map was superb, players were transported from a waiting room to another location where they battle each to the last man standing, you had the option to pick up items from chest box which could be found from buildings located all around the map and a mount option was provided for ease of fast transportation from one location to another.

When the map came out, an increment in users was seen and I must say I had fun with the map, although it was sometimes frustrating especially when you were paired with noob players, in which case you end up getting killed 2mins into the match xd.

Others were the addition of Accession Peak, this map was what brought in general khan, a general to house Aico, he served under Lian, as a defense champion he is able to heal himself and other allies close by, a combination of a healer and a defense champion. The accession peak brought a whole lot of new experience, as players were also restricted to just 10 champions, probably because of the gameplay surrounding the accession peak, it was a battle between the rebels and the magistrate and a celestial being called Jenos, now according to the history he was once a human who ascended and when he came back he had learnt a lot from the stars and became one with the heavens hence the power he had, he is a support champion able to heal his allies from buildings by casting astral mark, capture opposite troops on a void space and so much more A proper review will be made on Jenos.

Both house wanted his power, hence the map accession peak, but along the way the map was also removed and I must say would love to have that map back.

Other maps probably must have been added before I joined and am glad I joined sooner than later.

The addition of maps was/is not the best part of been a Beta player, the price of champions and other equips were far more cheap compare to what we see today, you could purchase a lot of champions within a week of game play and accumulation of ingame money, but today not so much. Along the updates that came in, the price was also increased. Users that came in early had the option/advantage to unlock all champions easy and faster.

Complimentary prizes, this is one of the best, for a nonpaying player, this surely came handy. Whenever an update was made that required the game removing certain options, a complimentary prize was provided to players, which included but not limited to skins, and ingame money. With this, players were able to unlock champions and bought more skins as well.

Speaking of skins,

It’s like a tradition that certain skins are created during some festive season say Halloweens, new year’s day and what have you and during this period certain boosters are given to Beta players, or when a new update comes in, new skins are added to the existing stock and thus Beta or earlier players probably have more skins when compared to newly signed in gamer, sometimes the skins are still available via your store menu but unable to access, due to the fact it was available for purchased or unlocked for a limited period.

And also a lot of freebies are available during Beta stage, say daily sign in, weekly package upon successfully logging in for a period of 7 days in a row and so much more.

Now the major setback of been an earlier player would be perseverance, been able to handle any update that came in no matter are bad it was and the never ending updates that usually comes in probably due to bug fix, change of character designs and what have you and I must say most players along the way usually give up on such games probably due to low graphic, other times probably due to huge data consumption gotten from constant update and other times the pc specification is unable to keep with the game updates that comes in.

But above all been a Beta/Alpha tester is super fun.

Some other games I reviewed so far

Rules of survival

Hopeless land

Paladins strike

French Resistance Enemy front

Titanfall 2

Dota 2

Far cry primal
