My Magic: The Gathering collection :D

in #gaming6 years ago

This week I’ve been on holiday, still am actually, will return to posting more often starting next week.

But I had to take a little bit of time to shoot some pics of my Magic: The Gathering collection and share them with the at least two people I know who are interested in the subject here @slobberchops and @harktheshark :D

Yes guys, that is in fact a foil Bloodghast I had no idea I had :))

I’m on holiday in my country of birth - Romania - and considering the recent reignition of my interest for Magic, I simply couldn’t wait to get to sift through my collection because I knew I had some quite cool cards.

So that’s 99% of my collection because I have a couple of expensive rares back in Denmark - I couldn’t leave without them :) I’ll show them off in future articles.

I started playing during 10th Edition, and played throughout the Innistrad block. I’m not sure if I have any Return to Ravnica, I might but not sure.

This means that I now have quite a few cards from Lorwyn/Shadowmoor and Zendikar - which have become some of the most appreciated cards in the past decade - both from a gaming perspective as well as from a financial one.

So I started looking through the bulk rares I had and decided that if the card’s worth at least 10 cents on cardmarket.com it gets a sleeve.

Well it comes down to 93 cards that got sleeves :)

Mind you, they’re not all rares - because there’s some commons and uncommons in these older blocks that are worth considerably more than bulk rares - but 95% of them are rares in this stack. There’s also a couple of full-art Zendikar land cards as well, but I’m never gonna sell those because I like them as well :))

So I think I have around or close to maybe a thousand cards here - maybe more, @slobberchops might be able to approximate best from the photo considering his experience, and I could only sift through the rares, so I’m curious if there’s a website out there or some resource where I can see the most valuable rares and commons in every set, so that I can start sifting through them as well because I found a couple I knew had value, and some that were quite a surprise.

Foil Bloodhasts are valued at $36 now, not bad.

This is the place I get my info from, for Zendikar you can filter on commonality, and then high to low, this way I can see which commons from the set have any value.

For rares, anything over $0.40 I consider NOT to be a bulk rare and sleeve, the rest I still keep but don't sleeve them.

Delvers sell well, or used to. I have none left.

Oooh, ok now I see how to use this website better. Thanks for the explanation. I have considerably less that are valued over 40 cents, although I was surprised to find a whopping THREE - Rhys the Redeemed among other super hidden gems I had forgotten about :)

I totally love the mechanic of this flip cards. Never played them, because i totally missed out this editions. Has Romania a big magic community?

I don't know about a big community, but what community exists is quite vibrant :) Haven't played in Romania since 2012, so I don't know what has happened in the past 6 years :))

Wow magic the gathering! I remember I had a classmate in university and he's got a deck of magic the gathering cards, but in Chinese! Quite a shock to me. That's my only MTG memory lol, I don't play the game. Thanks for sharing your collection!

I have a couple of Chinese cards as well :D

Very nice, I just have a small deck myself that it use to play when I was very young. I could not even tell you what it in was. I don’t even think I have any fancy foils in it or anything worth much. I recall once trying look up the pricing of some of my cards and was a little disappointed something that old was still not worth much.

What I have always enjoyed is the artwork on the cards themselves. I just love that style and detail they came with. It just has that old world gritty feeling to them.

I am a huge fan of the old card art!
