5 of the BIGGEST Announcements from XBOX at E3 2018! - Gaming Top 5 - Part 80.

in #gaming6 years ago

Yesterday, Microsoft Xbox had one hell of a show at E3 2018. And with it came some huge Game announcements.

As some of you may know, last night YouTube was live at E3 covering the Microsoft conference, and @TechMojo re-streamed that same stream for viewers on the blockchain. In that very same live stream came some of the biggest announcements from Microsoft in years, including world premiers, exclusives and a round up of development companies that are now under the Microsoft umbrella, allowing them to make more exclusives in the future. But the biggest upset was the announcement confirming the Next Gen Xbox Console is now in development.

So here are 5 games announced by Microsoft Xbox @ E3 2018.

5 – Ori and the Will of the Wisps.

  • The first Ori game was fucking awesome and I loved it. Everything from the art style to the narrative and the mechanics in the game. Now we have a sequel to that awesome first title with the Will of the Wisps.
We were expecting to see just another game trailer, yes we got that, but that same trailer also included some of the in game footage too, which was beyond amazing.
Somehow, the devs have managed to improve upon the art style over the last. It is a good combination that is almost full of bright colours for good and dark undertones for bad. The scale of the game is 100 times that of the first. You can see that there are several platform influences throughout the trailer, like Rayman, Metroid, Castlevania, but it is all contained in a vast stylized world that looks beyond good, and the scale of the events in the game, including the new antagonist, are just much bigger in this game.
When comparing this game to the last... the last game was just a small taste of what was to come. And trust me when I say this, this game will be one of the best platformers in a long time and will turn into a new classic.

4 – The Division 2.

  • In this section of the Microsoft conference, there was the usual game trailer, but we also got the more important, in game footage which showcased the co-op side of the game, with 4 team members going head to head against other players.
The co-op side of the game is very impressive and it looked very smooth. The graphics are not fantastic, but they are on point considering the scale of the game as it is located in Washington.
Gameplay looked buttery smooth, at 4K 60fps, which will be treat for the Xbox gamers among us. The user interface looked as though it has gone on a diet, when compared to the first game, and seemed to 'flow' much better with the tempo of the game.
While the first game was a little linear, this one seemed to have opened everything up and made a sort of open world, sandbox combat type game. We also got a good idea behind the narrative of the game too, well a good portion of it anyway. After the initial outbreak, Washington went underground, and 6 months later, the same shit as New York is happening there. But the corrupt government is trying to take over again.
As for how well it will do upon release will totally depend on how engaging the game is, and that the devs haven't repeated the same mistakes as the fist.

3 – Dying Light 2.

  • The parkour zombie horde franchise is back and this time it looks as though everything has been reworked, and gone has the dull brown and red colour pallet of the first game.
From the look of the trailer, we can see that this game looks to be based some time after the first as the environment looks more 'broken' and more like a post apocalyptic world should. One of the biggest changes over the original is how you ''choose'' to play the game. The choices you make while playing the game will effect how the game plays out, and it also will change the narrative too, giving it fantastic replay options. They also showcased how these choices effect the game.
We also got to see how human factions have formed and apart from dealing with zombies, you also have to deal with humans too. There were hints to multiplayer, and this faction based mechanic could roll out to that side too.
The trailer for the most part was based during the day, so we didn't get to see zombies and how they impact the game, but if I had to guess, they will appear in a future trailer that will be based during the night.

2 – Gears of War 5.

  • At long last, we have a sequel and a continuation of this awesome franchise.
The trailer gave us a lot of dialogue and it appears we will take control of Alicia Valera who was based in a DLC for the 3rd game, and she was also playable in the multiplayer side. Adam and Marcus Fenix are also making a return to the new game as well.... well it wouldn't be a gears of war without them.
Graphics and animations in the trailer looked fantastic and very smooth, a big improvement over the rest of the games in the franchise. The only problem is that we seen very little in the way of in game action. The trailer was filled with a lot of dialogue from the protagonists, but not much of anything else. What was shown though was hugely impressive and I look forward to seeing this game when released.
They also announced that there will be a mobile gears of war game called Gears pops, which features the characters as pop figures. And to be honest, it looks shit. But the main game looks great and I can not wait to see it.

1 – Halo Infinite.

  • The franchise that started the Xbox exclusives off has returned. After the mess and disappointment that was halo 5 guardians, this game looks as though it has made some significant changes, least of all is an all new game engine, Slip Space Engine, that has helped towards making this game look as good as it does.
The trailer that was shown, and the trailer that kicked off the Microsoft Xbox conference sowed us some footage from the game engine, in real time. If this is true, then fans of the franchise will be very impressed at just how well this game looks when compared to the flat and almost, cartoon feel of the others up until now.
The game is along ways away from being completed, but it will feature master chief, and the story will continue where Halo 5 left off. However, the Halo itself , looks as though it has been scaled up... massively and the environment looks to have improved ten fold. It even looks as though the art has a stylize and more realistic look to it, again when compared to previous titles.
Beyond a simple in engine, real time trailer, which showcased more of what the engine is capable off, we know very little about the narrative of the game and which direction it will take after the events of the 5th game. It is almost like they are holding something back,, maybe trying to create some hype about the game. Either way, it will be interesting to see the final product, because, as said, it looks amazing.

Bonus – Devil May Cry 5.

  • almost 10 years after the last game was released, we finally have a sequel that, the devs say, is created for the fans. Yeah sure his hair is shorter, and I suspect some of the more hardcore fans will get upset about, but the rest of the game trailer looks phenomenally good. The action, animations, mechanics, weapons, combat and more... all look brilliantly good.
Dante's arm is missing but the prosthetic he uses in the game has multiple uses, one of which is a grappling hook that looks awesome when used.
The game looks as though its, Devil May Cry how it should have looked from the beginning, and with the lead Dev saying its the best one he has ever made, you know the game is going to perform.

With 50 announcements, 18 exclusives and 15 world premiers, the 90 minute show was jam packed full of game content for Xbox fans and gamers to salivate over. The entire show was well paced, well presented, had very little talking and concentrated on what matters most to gamers.... the games.
After there disastrous previous years at E3 this was a huge surprise to everyone to see how far the company has come and how they are now totally focused on giving the gamers what they want on the Xbox platform.
There were a few games that were already available on other platforms in the conference, and more than a few that are multi platform, but when you think about how poor the Xbox exclusive line up is, it is a refreshing change to see how they have changed there corporate dickishness ways.

What game are you most looking forward too from this list?

Thanks for reading.

Just give me Ori and I'm a happy man. Also, Unravel 2 and Sea of Solitude :D

think i would have to agree. i loved the first Ori. and after seeing the in game of the 2nd. i'm salivating waiting for it to come out.

ori looks spectacular <3

I had no idea Dying Light 2 was being developed, crazy haha. Are you going to make another post like this for PS4?

will do.. the Sony conference is later tonight. so i will be watching and taking notes.

Awesome! I'm excited!

Not really exclusives. Ninja Theory's buy out is probably the best of all the news.

the list is the top 5 announcements. not exclusives. and i would love to see horizons available on the xbox and windows platform. if they do do that. i wouldnt have to pinch the kids PS to play it.

The Division 2 with 4 team members going head to head against other players.

The only thing probably missing is an ingame mic to support voice, am all about shooters game xd
