Video Games of My Past... Does anyone remember these? or maybe I'm just too old lol

Got me to thinking what games did I love growing up and where did my love for User interfaces begin... Perhaps you know a few of these and would like to comment below.

1. Smurf

I remember playing this game on the original ColecoVision. Man this was the game. I remember jumping white fences and going underground very similar to early Super Mario Bros. Anyway this came to mind first.

2. Demon Attack

I remember playing this early Texas Instruments game and was obsessed. I think after talking with @blocktrades recently and discussing TI this game and this post popped into my head. This game was above its time on the Atari and seriously was one of the best games ever I thought.

3. Yars Revenge

To most millennials this gameon Atari is a joke but damn was it hard once you got to level 5 or 6. I absolutely loved this game and would drop the bomb to the deathstar timing it perfectly thinking i was a space ship sniper strutting around in my he man underwear lol

4. Real Sports Baseball

Also on Atari, if you hit a fastball in this game i can still remember the high pitched pop up sound like you cracked it out of the part and the negative GRONK sound when it was picked off. This was such a hit back in the day.

5. Expedition Amazon

My brothers friends had an Apple II and we didn't. My dad thought computers were not a thing back then. I remember trying to play this impossible game and it was. Still to this day this game was IM POSSIBLE to win. but we loved playing it everyday as kids.

6. Kings Quest V

I think this was on our first computer an IBM PC Jr. I remember staying up for hours playing this game. I remember i also beat it. This game you couldn't save, and you had to use the items in the correct order or you would lose everytime.

7. Warlords II

This was on the pentium computer at my dad's office. It was the first of its kind able to play multi-player assuming you had all the players in the room at the same time taking turns. It was turn based and highly addictive. I remember playing this game for hours. This isn't fortnite @themarkymark but damn one of my fav's.

8. Nethack

Still to this day i play this game. Seriously the absolute BEST GAME of ALL TIME In my opinion and still is. Based on First Edition Dungeons & Dragons this games graphics were ASCII based but damn the game is so fun. Super hard to win, in 20 years ive won 1 time. infinite ways to die and you can save it but once you die your dead. Absolutely Amazing

9. Prince of Persia

I remember babysitting games for these kids and this game was on their home computer. After putting them to bed id play the shit outta this game. This is definitely not Counter Strike @acidyo but damn it was great. Drinking the potion of life on this one i can still see it in my brain. loved this game.

10. Bonk's Adventure

When Turbo Graphic's 16 came out the whole system flopped and my neighbor got one for christmas. I loved playing Bonk.

11. Altered Beasts

I can still remember this game like it was yesterday "Welcome to your doom" lol... so much fun playing as the wolf or the dragon. Great game on Sega.

12. Heroes of Might and Magic II

Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to win. This is a role playing game where if you talk to someone and didnt write down what they said, you'd never know what to do next. Think in a time of NO strategy guides, no nintendo power lol , no internet. This game was impossible. I think when i finally figured out how to win i was level 48 in characters and you needed level 20 or better to win. I remember hitting the final boss 1 time and he fell over lol

13. Battle Toads

Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN in 2 player mode. I cant begin to tell you how many times i Rage quit here. Unreal im serious like unreal this game.... does anyone else share this feeling lol

14. T&C Surf Designs

Loved this game, took a while to master but i was a master on this. Where else can you surf as a cat in a tuxedo right. @v4vapid lol.

Awesome post! You gotta love these pixels! :>)

I am from 1981, but I remember having played few of these games.

We only owned a PC from the start of the 90s and I never owned a console. My younger brother - who was born in 1990 - did own one and later became a successful game developer, but that's another story.

The only one of these games that I am sure I played, a lot, is Prince of Persia. In fact, I posted about that one a couple of months ago and even played it again for a bit to record a short gameplay video.

Whenever you feel like it and have some time to spare, feel free to check out this post with links to 6 earlier posts - one of them on P of P - on my fav pc games from the 80s and 90s Winter Challenge - 1991

haha Yes @theuxyeti!
My first game was the original pong that hooked up to the TV. Did Radio Shack put that out?
Then I got a Timex/Sinclair with 2k of memory.
Then I moved up big time to my first console, the Intellivision!
Atari games - Yes to Demon Attack, Real Sports Baseball and 100 more
The Atari was my boys first gamer machine. I recently picked up a DVD that had a lot of them on it for the Playstation. Not near as much fun as I remember! haha Neither was the Intellivision disk I picked up LOL
I had friends who had Commodores, TRS-80s, Apples.
Early PC Games - Yes to Kings Quest, Heroes of Might and Magic
My first PC games came on 5.25" floppies.

Did you ever play the Zork games? and Planetfall? They were amazing!

What do you play now?
I like 0AD (like Age of Empires) and Domination (a great Risk type game).

Great answer! I play hearthstone and clash Royale and still nethack. I remember the floppy games. I was addicted st lunch playing some alchemy game combining 2 potions into things. But can’t remember the game

I like this one very good post....@theuxyeti

Awesome man! Which games did you play?

thank you playing games you play..?

i played altered beast a lot on an arcade game at a pizza place. Also played King's Quest: heir today gone tomorrow... think that was number 6 (VI)

Battle toads is Fing impossible lol.

Agreed. Stupid battle toads lol

oh wait nethack... i played castle of the winds.... people said it was a clone of nethack with "graphics"

i just beat it again recently too. installed windows 3.1 to do it with dosbox.

castle of the winds.png

I should probably play nethack because i want to make a blockchain game that's similar.

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

To most millenials this gameon Atari is a joke but damn was it hard once you got to level 5 or 6.
It should be millennials instead of millenials.

This vidya is too old for me, I am a nes and snes dude haha

battle toads is NES. I know what you mean though. the retro games I'm used to seeing are Final Fantasy, Mega Man, super mario bros 3, Punch Out, Zelda, ETC ETC ETC.
