Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare the last good part of the cycle.
On June 22, 2001 we got our hands on the last good part of the cycle "Alone in the Dark" with the subtitle "The New Nightmare". This is of course my personal opinion, and you have the right to disagree with it, although reading the statements of other players many people think the same.
Just to remind you. Edward Carnby our main hero to solve the mysterious death of his friend Charles Fiske sets off to the coast of Shadow Island. However, he does not arrive at the place, crashing down during the journey. He and his companion Aline Cedrac hit different parts of the island, moving on to a gameplay about what's about to happen. On the spot, Edward learns about the ancient stone slabs that Fiske was looking for - as folk beliefs say, they have enormous power.
The gameplay differs depending on who we currently control. The authors gave us a choice whether we want to play Edward - a more "forceful" approach to the game, or Aline, where the focus was on more puzzles and less fighting. Both paths intersect from time to time during the game.
Technically, this is one of the first games with three-dimensional graphics character overlayed on previously prepared backgrounds in 2d, all because of the modern for those times graphical engine.
I don't judge the game, because it's a classic in itself, it's worth to play if someone else hasn't played and won't scare him off graphics (unless there are fashion improving graphics that I don't know about).
Curiosity 1 . The author of the soundtrack is Steward Copeland, the founder of the British band The Police ( together with Sting )
Curiosity 2 . The patent with the light of the flashlight injured enemies was reused years later in Alan Wake.
