Fortnite Is Great For The Industry And Is The Talk Of Earnings From Big Companies

in #gaming6 years ago

Fortnite, fortnite, fortnite. The game is everywhere. It is pretty awesome. But even if you are not playing it is doing a lot for the gaming industry. It is bringing a lot of new players. It is bringing in a lot of views on Twitch. And it is bringing a lot of attention in the media. This will lead to more growth in the sector and a push to get esports into the mainstream (if it isn't already). I would not be surprised if there was a movie soon :p.

Not only is it a big success it is being played on all systems from pc to mobile. It will probably be on the switch in a few months.

But is is also the talks when it comes up for earnings from big companies. Cryptocurrencies were mentioned a lot but not as much as Fortnite. Which being a free-to-play game is very impressive. This will lead to more free-to-play games and more companies putting money into gaming to compete. The game is clearing 100s of millions of dollars a month. That's right, one game is clearing 100s of millions of dollars.

Now if only we could combine that with cryptocurrency...

Or better yet, if we can combine that into the blockchain, imagine the possibilities. A game like Fortnite, an F2P game that you can pay with SBD or STEEM for all the microtransactions.

Also, you can incorporate interchangeable rewards that are worth real-life money so people could potentially get money on it, with buttons to upload to d-tube or stream into d-live.

Games that are this popular bring awareness for companies that there is money to be gain in video games, that are not what they were 10-20 years ago when you got your console buy the game and that's it. Nowadays you can make a lot of money just by selling skins.

Thank you for posting your thoughts on this, it is greatly welcome and appreciated.

Just checked the article - quarter of a billion dollars per month! No wonder they are a hot commodity.

This shows the massive amount of money that will be in Crypto gaming. Games will keep becoming better since they get so much value in return so the cost for them to make even more amazing games will go down. And then when they see how much easier it is to adopt Cryptocurrency with the potential future rise in value then they will do that. In short: Win-win for every side.

This makes me curious about making a Fortnite wagering platform on EOS. Verifying the results of matches seems like the biggest hurdle. I wonder if Epic will release an API for match results.
