What If We Made These 3D Games 2D?

in #gaming6 years ago (edited)

We always talk about games that could be good if they were made 3D, but what about the opposite. There are lot of games that could be really fun if they made a 2D version of it that sold for cheaper online. Here are three.

Twisted Metal:

Over-the-top car action. Yes. Have you ever played those over-the-top racing games where the track was on one screen and four different coloured trucks raced for first place. They were a lot of fun. Sure there was only so much you could do with it but as a pick up and play game it was a great time. Now add weapons and big map. You could only see so much of the map at once and it would follow your car as you try to take out the other racers.

Fortnite:

Why not a 2D version. 100 people in a side scrolling map. It would be chaos and a lot shorter match. You would lose a lot of stealth and excitement of the original game but as a quick crazy match it could work. You could make the map a little bigger so it goes passed the minute mark.

Any New RPG:

Who misses the old-school snes rpgs? The turn-based battles and the friendly towns. I wouldn't mind seeing a return to this with new rpgs. They have become very action based lately, which works, but I do miss the old school model once in a while.

I would love to see a great turn based battle RPG like in the old times something close and dear to my heart like Earthbound.

Fortnite would be (in my opinion) much better on an overhead view or on an asymmetric perspective I think it would be my choices for Fortnite.

An old-school GTA that resembled more of the GTA I or II, I've remember playing GTA on my original PlayStation it was pretty awesome.

My brain hurts just thinking about playing Fortnite in 2d. I do miss the old school RPGs though.

Not that it is exactly "the same thing," but I'm actually old enough to remember text based RPGs...

You take three steps to the east.

You've been eaten by a Grue!

Sometimes I actually miss it. A little. Yes, I'm a Luddite, in some ways!

text based games are awesome. Not only the rpgs.

Good idea if you really want to play a game but lack the requirements (proper console or your PC can't handle it) or aren't able to purchase the game, and there were companies that actually tried this back in the day of WAP by porting popular 3D games into mobile on a 2D format (like God Of War, Splinter Cell and Need For Speed insert sequel here that were "ported" and adapted by Gameloft) and even wen't above and beyond to make game adaptations of popular movies.

Make minecraft into 2D LOL :D

oh wait
