Lotus leaves in a pond are a thing to look at. It has a certain aesthetic beauty and a philosophical deep inner meaning as well.

The leaves as you can notice are detached even if they stand in the muddy water. The water droplets are floating on the leaves but it is not absorbed by it. This feature is often talked about by philosophers and religious preachers who say that people should be like the Lotus leaf - i.e. even if man is a part of the human society, he should learn to remain detached and not be involved completely in the 'MAYA or ILLUSION'

Lotus is a plant that is used not only for its flowers but has medicinal value as well. The roots and the stem are also used and the leaves are used as plates.

Fun fact - a lotus pond is home to frogs and toads. Thus, it also attracts predators like snakes and birds which dive in to catch the frog.
